Not for me at least…some of my loyal readers may remember last year’s season of Lent when I decided to give up sweets and desserts {you can read that post here}.
To say that was a difficult challenge is an understatement, but in the spirit of the season, I set my sights high this year in the attempts to really focus on my relationship with God–therefore I have decided I will be giving up drinking alcoholic beverages during Lent.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t drink that often now, except for a drink here and there on the weekends and when we’re out with friends, but it is so easy to get caught up in the drama of life: work, relationships, family, weddings, houses–not that I am not grateful for any of these things, but sometimes I tend to indulge a bit to take my mind off the real issues that seem to cause a lot of stress. So I need to refocus my attention to be more in line with God and I think this is the best way for me to achieve that goal.
Tonight we are celebrating a friends’ birthday with dinner at Local Taco.. one of our favorite Nashville spots, so I’ll let myself have just one more margarita before cutting ties for 40 days…
Til then, my tasty friends, I bid you adeu!
And yes, for my friends who are shocked and in awe over this decision, I will be happy to tote you around town and act as the Designated Driver for any and all events =)
Lauren/Jeff–this means YOU for your birthdays!! OXOX

Even if you don't drink much now, you'll be amazed at how much this helps your training.

  2. Teresa says:

    Good for you Natasha!
    Thanks for the inspiration!
    Oh!
    Meant to tell you…
awhile back I was peeking about in your blog…going back to old post and found where you vacationed at Rosemary Beach!
    Girl…that is our beach playground!
My sister and her family have a beach house in Sunnyside.
We vacation every year in Seagrove!
Morning walks and runs always take us up to Rosemary where we pop in for coffee! I usually workout at the Rosemary Fitness Center while we are there!
Oh how I adore that area!!!
    Seaside is a fave…and a nightly event!
    xxooxx
Good luck on all of your wedding plans.
Where are you getting married in Nashville!?

  3. Consider me impressed, sister! That is something I definitely give you mad props for, especially during such a crazy time of wedding planning! I'm thinking I'm going to give up chocolate, so yay – I get to finish off my oreo truffles tonight!

  5. That is wonderful! I think it would be hard for me to do that, I love enjoying a martini with a nice dinner 🙂 Your blog is sooo adorable, I absolutely love the design. xo

  6. Oh, wow! That is amazing! Good for you, my lovey!

  9. LG says:

I am on a 9 month sabatical and I can say it is VERY hard! I miss Margaritas and pale ales!

  10. The Holmes says:

Good luck lady! You can do it:)

  11. Good luck, thanks fr the inspiration!

  12. Kelly Marie says:

Good luck! I'm very impressed with this one (: I gave up buying clothes because I shop when I'm stressed & I could definitely just sit down and focus on my relationship with God instead.

  13. Good Luck to you girl! Even when you're drinking only 1 to 2 drinks a weekend, if that, this will be tough to do… well, at least for me! 🙂

    Happy Non-Alcoholic Days Ahead!

  14. Ashley says:

I'm proud of you! I think giving up "vices" — those things we can really develop addictions to (sweets, alcohol, other indulgences we come to depend on to function normally) are the best things to give up for Lent. (I'm giving up soft drinks this year–let me tell you, I DEPEND on Diet Coke!)

Plus, coming from someone who doesn't drink, I can tell you that sometimes it's WAY MORE FUN to be sober!

    Good luck!
