My Top 10 Beauty Must Haves….Summer Edition

Uncategorized

June 18, 2015

If summer does a number on your mind, body, and soul, then this post is for you. I’ve been jotting down a rolling list of my favorite beauty staples for warm weather months and these are the products and goodies I simply can’t live without…

SKIN
I’m an oily mess when humidity strikes so I rely on these NYX Matte Blotting Papers to minimize shine on my face. Even better, they are under $5 so it’s not a pricey necessity. Next up is my go-to Face Moisturizer with SPF 50 from the Rodan + Fields Reverse Collection. Some moisturizers tend to leave my skin oily and shiny and this one keeps my skin hydrated without that “residue” others seem to have. And it’s packed with SPF so I don’t have to worry about getting unnecessary sun on my face! Moving along to another recent find that I told you I’m obsessed with… the Emjoi Micro-Pedi. This is hands down my favorite beauty must right now, so much so that I use it every few days and my feet are feeling extra thankful for it. It works wonders and I feel like a TV spokesperson when I tell my friends about it… it’s THAT good, you won’t be disappointed. Finally, I’m talking about my Say Yes to Cucumbers Makeup Remover Pads that smell great, wipe away all my makeup, and leave my skin clean at night. I stock up on these all the time and they are great to use when traveling, too!
HAIR

Moving on to hair products… I can’t say enough great things about this Verb Detangle + Defrizz Conditioning Mist. It’s a spray that conditions, detangles, and defrizzes [so good I use it on the girls’ hair, too]. It’s also REALLY good for extra conditioning for dry/damaged hair and adds shine without making it look flat. My other summertime essential that my stylist turned me onto is Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo. When I’m in between color sessions, my hair starts to get a golden/brassy undertone and this purple potion helps transform my mane and make it shine again.
MAKEUP
And finally, it’s makeup time… the place where I usually end up spending tons of money because I’m a product junkie and can never seem to have enough shades of lipstick, eyeshadow, and the perfect black mascara. First up, is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer… my allergies can play tricks on me and my eyes water constantly so this is the only way I can get my eye makeup not to run or smudge throughout the day. Next up is this heavy duty Maybelline Master Conceal Liquid Concealer [Light]. For people who tend to get dark under-eye circles and need major coverage, this concealer is now a must have for my makeup bag… it stays on, is budget friendly, and blends in well for my skintone. On to another favorite that’s been a beauty secret for awhile now… the NYX Stick Blush in Pink Poppy. It’s a stick blush so I dab a little bit on the apples of my cheeks and then blend with a blush brush and it stays put… no reapplying necessary! And it gives you a good “glow” without looking shiny. Finally, I recently found a new lipstick color that I love, and a makeup artist suggested I try it based on my preference of pinkish-hues on my lips… it’s Glominerals Lipstick in Raspberry and I love the punch of color without being too bold, It’s good for dressing up and casual days, too and it stays on like it should. Even better, it’s under $20 and lasts a long time!
  1. I definitely need to try that conditioning mist. Living in the Caribbean and having thick, wavy hair is a brutal combination! Thanks for sharing! ~Ree

  2. I love the say yes to brand. Those face wipes smell amazing! My go to for makeup is Benefit's stick primer to keep my makeup from melting off my face.

  3. urban decay eye primer is my favorite! xo jillian – cornflake dreams
