Confessions… Round Five

Uncategorized

September 7, 2016

A new round of confessions, all for you… and yes, some of these are GOOD, so pour yourself a cup of coffee, champs or whatever you prefer, and enjoy!

ONE.  Botox.

Yes, I’m listing this little tidbit first… you found me out. I get Botox and have been doing so for almost two years. My facial lines across my forehead were something I was completely self-conscious about so I did something about it. This wasn’t to look better in pictures, on the blog, this was for me. Happy to answer any questions you have about this procedure and give a listing of who I visit, etc, if anyone is interested. I know I’ve referred a good number of my friends and they have been pleased with their results, too. P.S. Here are a few side by side views of pre-and-post Botox… big difference, huh?!?!

TWO. Choker Necklaces.

Yikes, I was ready to make it stop, but then I have actually seen some cute options online and in people’s IG feeds so now I am changing my perspective and I might even sport them myself this season. Honestly, it just brings me back to my awkward middle school years in the worst way possible and I’m not sure I can pull it off. I’m definitely seeing the high-style fashion bloggers embracing this so maybe this mama of two will give it a go, too. How do you feel about the choker trend this season???

THREE. Competition.

My goodness, it’s hard being a girl sometimes. I feel like we are constantly judged, mocked, talked about, etc, etc. I know it comes with the territory of anything that you subject yourself to. but I truly wish everyone could just get along. Can’t we celebrate each others’ successes and give a virtual high five when someone accomplishes something amazing?? Life is too short to spend it being so negative all the time! I think we all need a little reminder to be nice… even me.

FOUR. Weight Gain.

What the hell is this?!?!!? That might have been the thing I thought first when I stepped onto the scale a few weeks ago… and then I remembered that I am eating WHEY [get it??] more protein, I’m doing more and more strength training than cardio, and that just because I have gained a few pounds doesn’t mean it’s the “bad” weight. I confess that I need to skip worrying so much about the actual number and let my way my clothes fit be the real test. I also need to get my BMI checked so I can know where I stand now versus where I want to go with my nutrition and fitness journey.
P.S. I did a shout-out for the new protein I’ve been using for the past few weeks on IG, but wanted to share here for you friends, too… it’s by Correxiko and it’s called F’IT, The Power Meal. Vegan, low in calories/carbs/sugars and tastes great! I’m drinking one for lunch almost everyday now and I absolutely love it.

FIVE. Can We go to Disney Now?!?!?!
I’m not sure who is more excited for Disney… it could be the girls, or it could me Mimi and me. We’ve already started strategizing our daily ensembles, making to-do lists on what to pack and what to leave, and the countdown is on. We have been taking over Etsy the past few weeks to finish up our must-haves and I cannot wait to share our finds, supporting small businesses all the way. Kara and the girls made this countdown chain link craft the other day and it is SO cute — each day, you take off a special activity/to-do and it gets them ready for all things Mickey. Yesterday, they made Minnie Mouse pancakes =Pinterest wins yet again!

What are you itching to get off your chest this time around?!?!

  1. jkpuff says:

I love your honesty about getting botox. I was wondering what you had been doing because it worked! People want to hide when they've had stuff done and I love to see people be open and honest about it.

  2. LOVE your honesty on the Botox!! Thank you for not being all 'I just coat my face in seaweed for 5 hours per day and only drink water imported from Brazil and poof I look like I'm 20 again!' So excited to hear all about Disney when you guys get back – what a blast!

  3. No shame in botox!! Girls shouldn't judge- we all want to look/feel better about ourselves! I am jealous you are going to Disney! Have fun!!!

  4. Sarah says:

Thank you for your honesty about the Botox. Did it for the first time this summer and LOVE it! No shame in getting it!

  5. Danielle E. says:

Please share your Disney finds, we are headed down at the end of the month and I am starting to panic about everything!!

  6. heyyyy…did you use a service to plan your disney trip?

  7. Kelly says:

I have no qualms whatsoever about Botox — my 35 and 45-yo friends who get it look better than I did when I was 25 (what is it about hitting a quarter-century that suddenly makes your forehead rebel — like JUST when you get rid of acne, WHAM! Wrinkles! ?!?!?). I haven't taken the plunge yet just because I figure I'll never go back. BUT I would love your local recs for Nashville area peeps that do it RIGHT! (I'm also totally getting a boob job once I'm done having and nursing babies. Just saying.)

I don't know if I can take the plunge on the choker trend. I never looked good in them in the 90s/00s (ok, fair enough, who did??) and I just can't imagine wanting to draw attention to my neck. They weren't comfortable as stringy little plastic bands back then — I think I'll limit myself to a tied black ribbon if I ever decide to dress like Cinderella, haha!

  8. Robin says:

I don't think there is anything wrong with Botox, plastic surgery, etc. How someone wants to spend their money is their own business, and if a procedure will give you a extra boost of confidence, then so be it! Nobody thinks it's fake/wrong if you put highlights in your hair, and we all know that we weren't born with highlights, so why should Botox be "fake"?

    • absolutely LOVE your perspective on this… so true!!! i think it's one of those things that we see celebs going overboard, but if done correctly i think it REALLY helps fight aging and those dreaded lines we all hate

  9. I was about to reach out to you to see if you were still liking that protein powder. I'm almost out of what I have and need to order something different. I think I'll try this! Thanks!
