Rosemary Beach Rewind… Fall Break 2020

Uncategorized

October 29, 2020

I’m hoping if I write this out, I’ll magically snap my fingers and be back in our happy place when I open my eyes… it truly is my favorite place on Earth [well, right behind Disney World I guess….haha]! Fall break is but a distant memory, but you know I wanted to hop on here and do a brief little recap of all things Rosemary Beach. You guys are always asking for my beachside staples and must-do’s and this should help you on your next getaway to 30A.

First things first, who do we rent through?? Look no further than Rosemary’s own cottage rental agency. They make it super simple to define your search criteria [dates, # of bedrooms, house name] and then you can filter it by other parameters, too–gulf view, pet friendly, elevator, location, etc. We’ve rented exclusively through their service for years and cannot speak highly enough about the entire process. You check in upon arrival at the main office in the town square and then you’re off. For this trip, we booked the Briland Cottage and it was great for our family of six. Ample space for all of our beach goodies, a bunk room for the kiddos [always a must for my girls], a large and open kitchen/living/dining area and of course plenty of patio access for quiet morning coffee breaks. AND let’s not discuss the easy beach access… just 200 steps from the front porch to our beach setup = sign me up I’m sold!! Here are a few shots for reference:

As always, we couldn’t wait to get down to the beach… something about that scent of salt in the air, the breeze of the waves and of course the amazing blue water that only the Emerald Coast can offer. We lucked out and were able to dodge Hurricane Delta for the most part and had warmer than average temps in the mid 80s throughout our trip = perfection! It’s even better when you have the world’s best Mimi and Pappy that offer to drive down all the beach toys, extra luggage, games, sunscreen and towels, etc… something we always love to take advantage of!

Call me crazy, but I’m normally the one who loves to get showered and dressed and head out to dinner each night on vacation, and this time, we were much more relaxed and didn’t go out to dinner one single time. Who are we?!?!?! It was amazing though, sitting in the beach chairs until 5PM, watching the sunsets in our pajamas, ordering in food [favs include Cowgirl Kictehn Feed and Supply, Angelina’s and fried grouper sandwiches + steamed shrimp from Goatfeathers] and then a few nights we had a chef cook dinner and drop it off which was INCREDIBLE. Her name is Chef Paula and you can find her info here. And yes, she’ll help you create the perfect menu that adults and kids will enjoy… the shrimp and grits was beyond amazing and her tenderloin even impressed Jeff and Pappy.

There is nothing I love more than wandering the streets of Rosemary, checking out our favorite shops: Disco30A, Stellar, Gigi’s Kids, Bombora and Willow among others. As for food and drink, my heart belongs to La Crema, Pescado, Cowgirl Kitchen, Daughter’s Kitchen, Amavida Coffee and of course, the famous Sugar Shak. See the full list of merchants and shops here.

This time, the boys called ahead and booked reservations for them to take the girls on their very first beach fishing  trip… they had an ABSOLUTE ball in the quest to catch some bull reds [ask Jeff about the one that got away because Carson and Caroline will never let him live that one down] and while they were gone, Mimi enjoyed some quiet time together at the beach = now that is what a vacation is all about!

To say this trip was memorable would be an understatement… all smiles from this crazy crew that can NEVER have enough beach time together. We took some time away from work, had late mornings where we sipped on coffee from the outside porch, played plenty of bocce and frisbee next to the water and of course started planning our next trip to 30A. See you soon Rosemary!!!
