I live in it… ACTIVEWEAR. When you’re at the gym 4-5 days each week, not only do you want to look good, but you want to feel good in the ensembles you’re sporting. I’m SUPER picky about my workout wear. Trust me, I’ve gone through the good, the bad and the ugly and I’ve finally found the tried and true staples from the brands I simply cannot live without.
And as much as I enjoyed the $21 Amazon leggings we all raved about last year, I got smart and spent a bit more on items that will truly hold up and last = if I am going to wear it this much, I’d rather invest in the stuff that will make it through more than 10 washes before having to toss out. Today, I’m telling you about a few brands I love, swear by and KNOW will make you feel good about working out.
I’ll be honest… it took me quite a bit to jump onto the Lulu bandwagon, but now I am a believer and I totally get the appeal. Pricey? Yes, but hands down worth the hype because of the material, staying power and overall style. I’m a HUGE fan of the Align Crop Leggings: the crop length is great for shorter gals like myself and I now have them in black, camo and red = they are a staple! I also just bought the Align Joggers in black and they are a great option for everyday athletisure! P.S. for sizing, I wear a size 4 in Lulu pants. As for shirts, I opt for a size 6 because they are a bit roomier/flowy and I prefer a bit looser-fitting top. The Love Tank Pleated is my go-to tank style from them because it’s breathable, easy to layer up, lightweight AND won’t break the bank at just $38. As for sports bra, the Energy Bra for $52 has my heart = great support with criss-cross back detail and I wear a size 6 in these, too.
One thing I love about Athleta is that they aren’t afraid to incorporate the COLOR when it comes to athletic wear. Their spring collection just launched and I am LOVING all the bold reds + yellows mixed in with more neutral tones. Their fabrics are luxe and truly hold up… I’m still wearing pants of theirs I bought two years ago so the investment is worth it. As for sizing, I wear their XS in pants, Small in tops [I like mine a bit looser] and this sports bra is hands down my favorite ever [I wear a size small and I’m a 32D]. P.S. be sure to check out their Sale Section as they ALWAYS have some great steals and deals!
I know Lilly Pulitzer may not be a brand that instantly pops in your mind when it comes to activewear but it should! The luxletic material they use for their active lines is FANTASTIC–lots of stretch, fun fabric combinations, mesh details and more. I wear an XS in the tops, bottoms and cardigans/popovers and my girls love their collection too! I love to take my luxletic with me when I travel–especially to warm + tropical destinations and incorporate all the bright colors and styles. They hold up extremely well and make for coordinated everyday style when you want to look completely pulled together.
If there is one Amazon brand of workout wear I ABSOLUTELY recommend buying, it’s everything under the sun from Core 10. Totally budget friendly, but still exceptionally made for daily wear and tear, I’ve been super impressed with everything I’ve scooped up from this line. I have a number of their sports bras [wear an XS in each], leggings [also an XS], tops [I size up to small for a looser fit] , and jackets/sweaters [grab your true size/I wear an XS] and I’ve been super pleased with every item I own!
Finally, let’s not forget about Nordstrom’s in-house workout brand, Zella. My go-to 7/8 length leggings that I’ve worn for YEARS are a must-have from this moderate-priced collection. Well made, versatile, and full of great details and styles, my hubs loves their menswear options as well.
