Floral Fever | Five Tips for Incorporating Florals into Your Wardrobe

Uncategorized

August 7, 2018

You know I love a good floral… whether they are freshly cut in vases throughout the house, adorned on wallpaper in one of your favorite rooms, or as must-haves in your closet, it’s a staple that never goes out of style! Today I’m sharing a few floral favorites and giving you five tips on how to make the most of this colorful statement attire:

Eden Fit and Flare Dress [on sale/under $100] | Rainbow Acrylic Bag [on sale w/code summer deals] | Yaro Sandals

ONE | Pick a Print and Start Small

Scared you can’t pull off the peonies? Start by incorporating florals into a tiny component of an ensemble, such as a scarf, headband or earrings [I have these and get SO many compliments!]. Just incorporating one piece into your outfit can make a world of difference and bring some brightness to any ordinary OOTD.

TWO | Layer it Up

Now that we are venturing into fall [not too soon I hope], it’s the perfect time to start thinking of layers… this is when you can bring in another floral element with kimonos, lightweight jackets, sweaters and such. Pair these fun finds with the essentials–the chambray shirt, your favorite pair of jeans and your go-to slip on shoes and call it a day!

THREE | Choose Your Colors Wisely

If you’re testing the waters and trying a floral for the first time, stick close to home and find “safe bets” in terms of your favorite colors. I’m not much of a purple person, so I’m most likely not going to leave the house in a giant lilac patterned dress anytime soon. That being said, if you’re a yellow gal, incorporate a floral from that family of hues that way you’re still playing it safe while trying something new!

FOUR | Go Bold or Go Home

YES, I said it… if you’re willing to take a walk on the wild side, try pairing florals with another bold pattern = AKA stripes. You’ll most certainly stand out in a crowd, while making a major fashion statement! You only live once right?!?! And when I say stripes, think ticking stripe pants, a striped pencil skirt, seersucker shorts, etc.

FIVE | Remember the Season

Let’s not get too crazy my friends… remember to dress for the season you’re in! You won’t see fields on sunflowers blooming in the dead of winter so keep that tiny rule in the back of your mind when you’re shopping for florals. Here’s a few florals for each season to help:

Spring – Daisies, Daffodils, Azaleas, Pansies, and Violets

Summer – Hydrangeas, Roses, Dahlias, Peonies and Gardenias

Fall – Sunflowers, Marigolds, Chrysanthemums and Lilies

Winter – Poinsettias, Amaryllis and Carnations

Ready to incorporate a few beautiful blooms into your seasonal wardrobe? I’ve scoped out the best and brightest and all are under $100 to keep you on budget and able to buy a bouquet [or five] to fill your home with some freshly cut pretties:
