Beauty routines… mine changes with the seasons, but today I am rounding up an assortment of items that are in my current rotation and I am sharing the details on why I think these beauty buys are great summer essentials AND won’t make you cry when you see the pricetag!
For the Hair
My natural [haha, I’ve got jokes] hair has plenty of ups and downs when the temps get warm so I have started using Joico’s Blonde Life Brightening Shampoo [$17] and Blonde Life Brightening Conditioner [$18] to combat the dull/brassy that seems to take over… definitely makes my hair softer, too!!
On days I don’t wash, I turn to this Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo [$6] to keep oils at bay and make my hair easier to fix on days 2 and 3. I’ve tried SO many dry shampoos and yet I always come back to this drugstore find because it’s the best.
Finally, I’m talking big hair for us southern girls which means hairspray that actually holds… again, I’ve tried everything out there, but my staple that never fails me is this Salon Grafix Extra Hold Hairspray that is only $7.
For the Body
I’ve recently been introduce to the Soap and Glory line and have been impressed with the cost AND how well they work. My new favorite is the Clarifying Shower Gel [for $10] that has the BEST smell. A little goes a long way, and is great for treating dry summer skin!
I saw a commercial for this Jergen’s Natural Glow Wet Moisturizing Lotion [another $10 find] and knew I wanted to try it because I’m all about the easy and fast when it comes to getting ready in the mornings. You apply immediately after you get out of the shower and it’s great because it won’t come off on your towel!!
Ya’ll know that I am a faux glow aficionado, but sometimes I don’t have time to hit up the spray tan, so I do it myself at home with this NKD Skin Caramel Tint Lotion [$19]. I use the “dark” color but it’s tinted so you can immediately see where you have applied the lotion, My favorite part is that it doesn’t have any smell or fragrance and it stays put once it’s applied.
For the Face
Finally, moving onto the face… I’ve started using a lot more face masks and treatments and this Pixi by Petra Peel and Polish Treatment [only $24] is a great find because it removes excess dirt and restores a glow to your skin. Girls night in anyone?!?!
For me, I am ALWAYS on the hunt for concealer that works AND stays… I’ve got a few favorites, but this Wander Dualist Concealer [$29] doubles as a concealer and illuminator = two for the price of one! It’s full coverage and removes remove my discoloration and under eye circles… P.S. I use the Medium tint.
Onto another drugstore beauty buy, this Revlon Volume + Length Mascara [only $8] is a STEAL and is a great everyday mascara favorite. Its an all-in-one that plays up volume and helps to lengthen.
Finally, let’s talk lips… you know I love some bold colored stains and sticks, but sometimes I want something lighter for hopping around during summer… I’ve started using Soap and Glory Pillow Plump Lip Gloss [$14]. I love that it’s shiny with just a bit of color, and has Peptide Plump Complex so it makes your pout look bigger as well.
