Tuesday’s Round of Recent Confessions

Uncategorized

February 21, 2017

One. Caroline’s birthday party is less than a month away and I haven’t done ANYTHING other than send out invitations and of course select her cake from Puffy Muffin. This mama is making a lit today and is going to knock those to-do’s O U T.

Two. My poor hubby has no rhythm whatsoever, but every night we have a “jam party” with the girls where we turn on music and crazy dance and it’s a recent treasure we all look forward to before bedtime.  AND we also got him and Elise’s daddy Trey to sign up for the Daddy Dance for the girls’ recital in June and I am SO excited… it’s going to make our girls so happy to see him up there on stage–a man that puts his pride aside for his kids = a keeper.

Three. When I was at market, I received an invitation to attend this year’s RewardStyle Conference in April… honestly I was shocked to be invited, but excited nonetheless and I am counting down the days until some girl time with some of my favorite bloggers!! Yes, I might have done a few happy dances, too. We’ve got our rooms booked, our flights confirmed, and now we start planning outfits and ensembles… small fish, big pond for sure, but I figured why the hell not, so let’s do this! You only live once and opportunities like this don’t come everyday.

Four. It’s almost the end of February and I still have my winter wreath on our front door. Guess it’s time to switch out to something spring-ish/Easter related. Looks like another trip to Target is in my future… oh darn.

Five. I’ve been putting off my annual doctor visits for a bit now and I’ve GOT to get them scheduled. As moms, I know we need to remember to prioritize ourselves so that we can stay healthy, but it’s hard… and because who really wants to go to the dermatologist, OBGYN, dentist, etc?!?!

Six. Soccer season officially starts back next week and the girls are SO excited to both be on teams this year. This should be interesting with practices each week and then games on Saturdays… there goes the laid-back weekend plans. So long old friend, it was nice knowing you.

Seven. Life with the bunny… Lulu has been getting very territorial and has started biting us and I don’t know what to do… we’ve had the difficult conversation about how it may be time to find a new home for her but Caroline keeps telling me she doesn’t want to give her away. Any ideas out there friends?!?! I need some advice on this one.

Eight. Speaking of Easter, those damn Starburst Jelly Beans are out again and I have ZERO restraint when it comes to those bags full of sugary goodness… the Easter Bunny better not bring any of those to my house or my waistline will dramatically increase.

Nine.  I’m giving up alcohol for Lent and everyone around me thinks I am insane. I did this before and I’m not going to lie… it was tough, but I’m hoping cutting out those empty calories and sugar will help get me in better shape for spring and summer. But yes, I’m probably going to wish I hadn’t on day 4.

Ten. I did a lot of damage this past weekend during those President’s Day Sales! You know I can’t say no to anything marked down and then yesterday I saw a few other new discounted goods that were calling my name…thanks Shopbop!

Anything you need to get off your chest today?!?!?!

I love this post! It such a fun way to get to know you! xo, Nataly

  3. Elizabeth says:

Lulu should be living full time in a hutch in the garage or outside… and can be taken out once a day for some play time but rabbits are not great full time indoor family pets after a certain age.

    • thank you SO much for the helpful feedback and advice!

    • Megan says:

This is not true; rabbits can (and do) live happy, healthy lives as indoor pets. Rabbits are social creatures; a rabbit who lives alone in an outdoor hutch or a garage leads a lonely life.

Here is an awesome article that can help you troubleshoot and begin to solve some of Lulu's problem behaviors: http://rabbit.org/faq-aggression/

rabbit.org is a wonderful overall source on house rabbit care, training, and family life.

It may very well be that she is going through a hormonal adolescence and needs to be spayed. Spaying/neutering rabbits can make a big positive impact on their behavior.

It is also possible that she has an injury or illness that is causing her discomfort; the only way she can tell you that she's hurting is by being aggressive. Take her to a good rabbit-knowledgeable vet for an exam to rule out any issues (and find out about spaying while you're there).

Caring for a pet is such a great opportunity to teach your children and model compassionate, caring actions. Taking Lulu to the vet for an exam, getting her spayed, and learning (as a family) how to understand and train her will be a terrific lesson for your girls.

    • thanks Megan!! taking Lulu to the vest to see what's up and hoping we can get this figured out because we love our little bunny girl

  4. Jessica says:

When I had show rabbits, I noticed if I wasn't taking them out regularly, they would get very mean. Of course, that would make me want to deal with them less often, because who wants to be bit or scratched? Not sure if this could help you at all, but figured I would offer it up.

  5. I cannot believe birthday time is almost here! I am so bad about starting early and then getting burned out on planning lol!

  6. Kayln Stahel says:

My best friend works @ Reward Style and is helping host this event, you need to meet her!!! Her name is Lauren (don't want to post last name on here) but she says she's the oldest one that works there and is now pregs so you can't miss her lol (ps. she's only 30… wamp wamp). You'll love her!!!

  7. Maggie says:

You will have so much fun at the RS conference! And I am loving everything from the shopbop sale!

  8. How the H-E-double hockey sticks are you going to give up alcohol for Lent?! I have wanted to do that for so long but I just can't! I'm thinking of giving up sweets but Lord knows that's going to be just as hard!

  9. Target has the cutest Spring stuff right now! Loving that wreath.
    xx Lexi, Glitter, Inc.

  10. Yay!!! See you at the conference!!

  11. Heather says:

I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I went to the dentist this morning, and I knew I was overdue… but they said it had been 2 years! I was mortified. I did have a baby in that time period, but still. My kids always come first for regular appointments, but you are SO right! It's so important to take care of ourselves. Secure your own oxygen mask first, right?! Ha!

  12. Always love these confessions sweet friend!
I'm with you on the party planning – I am having a baby in 4 weeks, a 5 year old party in 7 weeks and a 3 year old party in 10 weeks and I have done NOTHING!! March, April and May babies!
There really is nothing better than watching a Daddy & Daughter dance together.
That conference looks amazing – so jealous!

  16. Sarah says:

Loved this post!! I think giving up alcohol for Lent is fantastic!! I haven't drank since I found out I was pregnant last year lol (obviously didn't drink while pregnant, but my baby is now four months and I still haven't had a sip!), and I do feel a LOT healthier and happier overall! I don't think I'll never drink again, but I'll probably reserve it for special occasions only.

Good luck to you!!! Hope you have a great day!!

  17. ariel_parker says:

My husband said if I gave up Diet Coke for lent he would get me a puppy, so of course after 2 glasses of wine I said hey I'll give up alcohol too! What was I thinking?? Praying I make it through- sending you good thoughts!
