New Makeup || The Summer Edition

Uncategorized

August 3, 2016

A few months late, but my Mother’s Day wish came true when I was treated to an afternoon of shopping for new makeup… since I met with Mandy Davis and had her do a consult and makeover [see that post here], I was in desperate need of adding a few new makeup essentials to my stash.
A few of you were asking about my new loot so I thought I would do a round-up of all the new goodies, now included in my makeup drawer:

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer || Not a “new” product for me, but one I cannot live without. It helps keep my makeup lasting all day/all night and lasts forever… I think I buy this maybe 2 to 3 times a year so it definitely is worth the price. Go with the “Light” color if your skin tends to be on the oily side.

Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Corrector [Madeleine] || I’ve tried countless concealers and I have a few that I buy, but this one is budget friendly at just $14 and it definitely helps cover while not looking caked on. A ton of colors for different skin variations, too.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner [Trooper] || OK, I’ve been converted. I have had a TON of people swear by this eyeliner saying it’s the end all, but I was a little hesitant… alright, you win. This stuff is legit and no need to reapply!!! P.S. use some good eye makeup remover because it is a bit tricky to remove!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer [Blonde] || I think I was the last person to jump on the Anastasia bandwagon, as I know it’s been all the rage for some time now. I love the triangle shape to the brush tip and the blonde color helps me fill in without going overboard in the brow department. My only wish is that I feel like it doesn’t last that long…

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara || I like a ton of different mascaras for different reasons, but this one has been a recent winner due to the hourglass brush shape, filling in where I need more volume and amplifying the other, shorter lashes. It curls well, too!

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation [Color 127] Again, not new for my beauty regime, but a long-term fav for sure… I’ve tried other brands and nothing works as well for me as this particular variety of foundation. It’s lightweight, but still covers like a champ and a little goes a long way.

Too Faced Dark Chocolate Soleil Bronzer || I used to think it was TOTALLY weird that a bronzer would smell like chocolate, but once I bought it, I discovered that yes, it is that great and it helps curb my dessert fascination… this is the end all of bronzers in my book and it is great for contouring those cheekbones!!

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot [Painterly and Indianwood] || My friends who rarely wear makeup were going on and on about these paint pots… they double as eyeshadow primer AND eyeshadow and I can tell these are going into the regular rotation. They blend well and only take a small amount to apply on the eyelids. Mac for the win!
MAC Prep + Prime Finishing Mist || Finally, you have to set your “look”… Mandy used this on me and I was shocked at how long it helped keep my makeup looking fresh. It smells great and keeps my skin hydrated as well.

Tell me… Love them, hate them, or what do you wear during hot summer months when it comes to makeup and beauty?!?!?!

I love the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara too! A tip that someone at Sephora told me last time that I was there is to get the travel size! It's .17 oz versus the full size .27 ounces and about half the price so if you get two, you're getting more bang for your buck. Plus, this also keeps you in fresher mascara, and the wand is the exact same size. I loved this little tip!

I had a makeup artist (wedding makeup – I don't have a glam squad – ha!) tell me that you have to get a setting spray that doesn't have alcohol in it! She said the alcohol dries your skin out and you end up getting the reverse effect you are looking for. I'll have to check this one out!

  3. That eyeliner is THE BEST! I was so nervous to try our liquid liner – hello shaky hands – but oh my it's great. I'm never going back.
