Hola Miami || An Adult Vacay Rewind and Recap

vacation

September 21, 2015

It’s taken this long to upload a post in celebration of all things Miami because I am distraught that we’ve already been away from South Beach for more than a week now. Do you ever have a case of “I-wanna-go-back” when your vacay is all said and done?
To anyone that has yet to venture to Miami, I HIGHLY recommend it! We had an incredible time and it’s a perfect destination for a weekend away with friends, family, yourself, etc.
Last year, we booked our Scottsdale Trip through Southwest Vacations, so we decided to use their travel planning services again for Miami… hands down, if you’re looking for a fantastic hotel with inexpensive airfare, this is a great resource! They make it SO easy for you and you have the ability to select between a ton of hotel options, based on star-rating, location, amenities, and so much more.

Moving right along, we decided to fly out Friday night to avoid some early Labor Day crowds, yet of course we were delayed that night so we didn’t arrive until after 1AM… although in Miami that’s considered early so people were out and about heading to the bars when we were pulling into our hotel, 1 Hotel South Beach. That night, we decided it was an absolute MUST to partake in some local late night pizza so we had some delivered to our room with cocktails… starting the party off right!

The next morning, we did a bit of exploring around the property and then headed to Beachcraft for breakfast… laid back, relaxing atmosphere with the perfect morning food and drink. Afterwards, we headed up to the Adult-Only Rooftop Pool Deck and spent the day relaxing, cocktailing, swimming, and watching a bit of football with the boys.

That night, we ventured out to Barton G, a local favorite dining experience that had been recommended by a ton of people! It was absolutely amazing… the food, the drinks, the entire experience was beyond phenomenal and it’s something we won’t soon forget! It was incredible and the sparkler sundae dessert was the icing on the cake to an incredible meal.

Sunday morning came and we took a walk on the beach for some early morning exercise… oh a fun place for people watching like I’ve mentioned before so binoculars could be a good accessory to have in tow 😉 Afterwards, we got ready and took the hotel car service over to the famous Delano Hotel for brunch at Bianca. Hands down, this was my favorite meal from the trip… bottomless Veuve Cliquot with any kind of food you can imagine and it was a match made in heaven. We practically had to roll ourselves out of the restaurant after we were finished!

That afternoon, we took it easy and laid out at the Main Pool Deck, drinking some infamous mojitos, munching on their amazing guacamole, and relaxing by the pool… just what the doctor ordered!
Sunday night, we walked over to STK Miami for dinner, which was conveniently located adjacent to our hotel… even better! To whoever recommended us eating there, THANK YOU… a big winner for all of us: the steaks, the atmosphere, and the house DJ with music made for a late night and we celebrated in style!

Morning came around and we decided to order in breakfast from a local eatery before heading out to the pool… sadly the weather wasn’t cooperating very well, so we asked the hotel concierge for a recommendation for the best cuban sandwich, which sent us over to the Lincoln Road Mall to eat at Havana 1957. And yes, you should go there… tiny little hole in the wall with fantastic mojitos, really tasty cubans, and you can watch shoppers while you eat!
Our last night called for one final fancy dinner out and we took the recommendation from my dear Andee Layne and headed to Cecconi’s for an authentic Italian dinner… homemade pastas, the best cucumber mint cocktail I’ve had [called The Eastern Standard on their menu] and delicious Tiramisu to top it all off! Afterwards, we headed back to our hotel for one last hoorah on the rooftop deck for nighttime fun and the party was over! Tuesday was spent packing up, sipping on a few last cocktails, and catching our plane home to our babies…

Such a fun, adult friendly, happy little vacation away from all the hustle and bustle and I definitely recommend it for a fun destination that’s close enough for a long weekend, but far away to feel like a real vacay!
