Five on Friday…My Favorite Day to Post

Uncategorized

August 30, 2013

1. My Best BIG Girl.
Yalll, this is the proudest I’ve been in a long time and it’s all because my Caroline went potty for the very first time in her big girl potty on Wednesday. I might have called Jeff and Mimi to shout out the great news because I was so excited… I was driving home from the gym when Alex called me telling me all about it, so of course I beelined it to the gas station to pick up some Skittles as a “prize” (no, I am not above bribery). As soon as I got home, I raved and raved about how proud I was of her and how she was so smart. I know it’s going to take awhile to go through this whole training process, but to see her wanting to do it herself made me realize how big she is getting…go big girl, GO!
P.S. for those who asked, her potty is the Boon Potty Bench Seat and we LOVE IT!

2. The Fun Lunchtime Rendezvous.
Jeff and I rarely get out for a date these days, but as we all know, it’s a time we enjoy spending together…catching up on the day’s events and such, but also time for just the two of us to connect and spend some quality time together. Since weekends are all about “family time”, we decided to have a lunch date yesterday. I picked him up (hey, wait a minute) and then he wined and dined me out to lunch (yes, it was 12PM and yes I had a cocktail). I finally got to experience The Southern which everyone has raved about and it was a wonderful afternoon spent with the hubs. Now if we could only make this happen more often! The moral of the story…there is ALWAYS time for us as a couple, we just have to be diligent about making sure it happens.

3. Cheekwood Tuesdays for Tots.
We are so fortunate to have so many things to do around town with the kids…one being Cheekwood. It’s close to us, and they always have such fun programs for kids to participate in. Even better, one of my Bunco friends runs the art department so we are always in the know of what’s coming up. Next week, they start new fall drop-in sessions with all sorts of crafting opportunities (yes, I am SO excited to get to do this with Caroline). There are a variety of classes and you can check them out here.

4. End of Summer…It’s Here 🙁
As much as I love me some cool, crisp fall weather, football, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and all that encompasses fall, my heart breaks a little bit knowing this weekend is the end of “summer” around these parts. Sure, the hot humidity will linger on for another month or so, but no more afternoons at the pool, no more seersucker, and no more long days. I will miss all the green trees and the pretty flowers, but sure enough, it will all come back again next year. Adios summer!

5. My Heart is in Knoxville
So, it’s here, it’s here…the start of college football!!! I can’t wait to wake up on Saturday morning and get a full dose of College Gameday on ESPN…this is what gets me moving (it’s a southern thing I think). It’s funny how Jeff and I disagree when it comes to most of the television we watch, except when it comes to football…usually, I’m the one paying attention while he is off doing something around the house. UT starts their season off against Austin Peay and though I’m sad we’re missing the festivities first-hand by not using our season tickets, we will still be glued to the TV to watch our new coach, Butch Jones, work his magic. Cheers to a WINNING and successful season for our big orange…GO VOLS!!

There goes another Five on Friday installment…can’t wait to read some of YOUR posts today!! I bet a lot of them will be fixated on football and Labor Day fun. Make sure to drop by Darci, April, and Christina’s blogs to say hey and link-up below 🙂

Friday, 8/30:

wow go Caroline!! How did you know that it was time to start? Was she showing a ton of interest or did you guys just wing it? She is too cute!!

  2. Congrats on the potty!!! Such a great accomplishment. You're going to feel free (partly) once she's trained. It's awesome! Also good for you on your lunch break. It's good to relax and feel normal again 🙂

  3. Yay Caroline!! What a big girl! We're in the same boat here — I'm not really potty training, just introducing it to spark interest!

  4. YAYYY CAROLINE! What a big girl!

  5. YAYYY CAROLINE! What a big girl!

  8. Blondie says:

Yay Caroline!!! Lunchtime dates are the best! With my hubby and I both working full-time, we took full advantage while I was on maternity leave to meet up for lunch.

  9. Tess says:

We are rooting from the West Coast for the Vols!

  10. Wohoo what a big girl! Such a proud moment!

I'm also not ready to say goodbye to summer, as I talk about in my Five of Friday post too. 🙂 I do adore Fall and I'm just about to break out the Fall candles but I love warm weather so much! How cool that you have art projects readily available to you, great memories for you and your girls!

  11. Oh my goodness, WAY TO GO, CC!! That is great………. SO, SO SMART! {Clearly, I'm a nerdy mom who gets super excited over this too.. ha!}!

And I am beyond ready for fall, but kind of felt the same way this week. Just a little bummed that pool days are behind us for the most part.

Hope you guys have a great weekend. We'll be watching football ALL weekend, I'm quite sure (and I'm only interested in Texas Tech's game tonight}!
    xoxo!

  12. Megan says:

  16. I hate that it's the end of summer. I'm trying to gear myself up for the fall, though. Candy Corn anyone?

  17. Way to go Caroline! My hubby and I had one of those lunch dates this week too…and I enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine. May have been the only people in the restaurant drinking but that's okay. 🙂

  18. Chelsea says:

My husband is a huge VOL fan. He is on VOL quest everyday and keep up with everything going on. We even had to go find a sports bar at the beach that was playing this game!! I hope they have a better season then last year!!

  19. Jordon says:

We love the Southern! We always go for happy hour and their fried green tomatoes are to DIE for! Sadly they are not very wedding dress friendly 🙁
