Dear Carson…2 Months Old

Uncategorized

August 20, 2013

I cannot believe it’s already time for yet another monthly update for our darling Carson. 2 months already my sweet little bit…let’s see what you’ve got going on these days:
Grow Baby Grow. And just like that, we are officially out of newborn clothes…cue mama meltdown. The thought that this might be our last round with a tiny baby makes me want to cry, but for now I will put them away “just in case” ;). We have moved into the 0-3 month wardrobe, which is FULL of all sorts of cuteness. I think we need to change you at least a few times a day to ensure you wear everything before the cooler weather comes our way. You are still eating like a little piggy and nurse 8+ times a day…when we feed you bottles, you take anywhere from 4-5 ounces so you’re definitely eating plenty. We are still 100% breastmilk and going strong…and giving myself a little pat on the back, too.

We went to your 2 month checkup last Thursday and you weigh 11 pounds, 7 ounces (75%). You are growing in the length department, too…measuring at 23.5 inches (75% too). You are in size 1 diapers now and this month we had our first real diaper rash, poor baby. I was a bad mommy and used some diapers we had been gifted that weren’t our normal Huggies Pure and Natural brand, and of course you broke out…I most certainly learned my lesson! Shots definitely took their toll on you and you’ve had a bit of a cold all weekend…boo hiss to shots that ALWAYS seem to make my girls sick.

The Important Details. You’re still pretty “easy”, but get really upset when you’re hungry and/or cold…other than that, I can’t complain. Nighttime fussiness has reared it’s ugly head though, and only mommy will do…sorry Jeff. You love to snuggle in my arms for about 2 hours before bedtime, but I don’t mind. You still enjoy bath time as long as big sister Caroline doesn’t pour water on you. When it comes to sleep, you don’t really nap too much during the day, which is maybe why you’re a great nighttime bed bug…you go to sleep swaddled around 10PM, wake up between 3-4AM to nurse, and then back down again until around 7:30/8AM…and no, I am not complaining one bit! You still sleep in your bassinet right next to me every night and I know this will be a tradition that’s hard to break…hard on me, easy on you. In the next month or so, I hope to move you to your crib so we can sleep train and get you going through the night. We are still a no-go in the pacifier department…yall, how do you get your kiddos to use them? Both my girls have refused them now and I know I will be glad one day that I don’t have to devise a way to get rid of them, but some peaceful time would be nice.

Extra Tidbits and Milestones. You are extremely ticklish on your feet…so dang adorable. You started losing all your hair like a balding man last month, but now it’s coming back in full force-fingers crossed for a thick head of hair for you little bit. Pappy still calls you Benjamin Button, but you’re filling out and getting all sorts of fat, chubby rolls and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! You have really good head control (just like your big sis did at this age) and your favorite thing to do as of late is lay on your mat and kick and/or swat the toys that hang down…move it baby, move it! When we “attempt” naptime, you sleep in your swing and the music HAS to be on…I guess you have grown accustomed to all the noises in our house and you want background noise all the time-you really enjoy the Rockabye Pandora station, too. The most fun detail this month has been your facial expressions… you officially started smiling at us when you were 5 weeks old…ahhh I love those gummy smiles!! Everyone has been telling me you’re starting to look less like your sister and more like me…although I still see a bit of Caroline in everything you do.

That’s all for this month my love…so thankful to be your mommy as you fill all my days with so much joy and happiness. I truly forgot how much I loved this stage and I am so lucky to be able to do it all over again with you. OXOX

  1. What a cutie!! And those "milestones" are adorable!

  2. Carson is adorable! What is the age difference between Caroline and Carson? We just found out that our little girl is going to be a big sister and they will be about 17.5 months apart! Seems like you are doing great with two little ones! We can't wait for another little one.

so cute! I love that little bow!

  28. Bellie Blue says:

Such a beautiful little girl! Neither of my kids would take pacifiers either. With our first we tried everything, different kinds, the Wubbanub, etc. with no luck. Then when we had our second one 2 years later, I didn't try as much because I had seen so many friends really struggle with getting their kids to give up their pacifiers. My family would try the paci with baby 2 and he just wouldn't take it. I have to say that I am really, really glad now and for us I don't think the few minutes of peace would have been worth making them give it up. Good luck!

  29. She is so, so sweet! I honestly feel like I'm looking at Caroline! Wow! I've heard that children close together have a better chance of looking alike and I think they do. So precious. I would love another girl, I ain't gonna lie 😉

  30. Huds Dshfha says:

Since our house building process has been pushed back a bit (building codes, new development taking longer to clear the land, etc.) I decided to move forward with decorating my little office nook upstairs.

  31. She is so beautiful! I love her monthly onesie shirt! Too cute!

  32. Laura Graham says:

She is so precious and has such pretty skin! Funny that you mention that about her shots and getting a cold. Sister has a cold right now ( and I hate it! She has a nasty cough) and she just got her 2 month shots, do you think that is what caused this? UGHHH I love her little onesie stickers! So cute!
