My Dearest Carson… A Letter to My Little

Uncategorized

June 6, 2013

Carson,
It’s here…our family calendar says it’s officially baby month and I cannot believe your birthday is upon us. Within the next few days and/or weeks, we will finally get to meet you and introduce you to the world. Your daddy and I are constantly talking about what you will look like, if we will have another “mini Jeff”, or if you’ll surprise us all and come out looking completely different than your big sister Caroline.
These past 9 months have gone by so quickly, probably because we have been so busy keeping your sister occupied and trying to manage all that’s to come once you arrive. I thought life was different with one baby in our house, but with two, I know it’s going to be a whirlwind of fun, crazy, and exciting, but I know there will never be a dull moment with two minis to tote around.

I should go ahead and apologize to you upfront, as you will soon discover that matching outfits to hair bows is a must, that we never miss an opportunity to take a picture, and that I will be the one dressing you and your sister alike for the next few years…sorry, I’m being honest, but it’s just too cute not to. You can thank me later ;).
I can’t wait to hold you, to shower you with love and kisses, and to spend the rest of my life showing you just how special and important you are to us. I hope you will always know how incredible you are and that God giving us a second opportunity to be parents is more than we ever could have imagined.

My hope is that since your daddy and I know what we are doing now-yes, professional baby raisers we are-things will be easier this time around, as we already are well aware these next few months are going to be filled with little sleep, lots of late night feedings, tons of poopy diapers, and spit up galore. Don’t worry, we’re looking forward to the fun stuff too…the giggles, the first smiles, tummy time, and all the other firsts you’ll soon encounter.

The rest of your extended family is counting down the days until they receive the call that you’re on your way and I know they are anxious to meet the newest little Miss Stoneking. Daddy and Caroline rub my belly all the time and you respond with fun kicks and jabs, so I know you know them already… my heart almost bursts when I think of you and your big sister, and my hope is that you two will be the closest of friends. Seriously, I cannot wait to see how you and her interact, though I promise I’ll kindly ask that she return your bouncy seat upon your arrival.
We are overjoyed, and SO very anxious about meeting you and I am trying to be as patient as possible these last few days/weeks until you come…though I know life is only going to get even more incredible with two daughters to love. Motherhood is the single most rewarding experience and I am so thankful I get to enjoy this all over again with you.

Until we meet again,
Mommy

I'm just so excited and happy for you! My sister and I are 13 months apart and she is my best friend in the world. Your girls are so lucky that they'll have a best friend for life. And how much fun for you guys to have two sweet little girls to love! Wish you the best in these last few days and weeks as a mommy of one!

  2. Such a sweet letter…. you'll look back and be so glad you wrote it!! And I absolutely cannot believe that we are talking weeks or DAYS now! 9 months has seemed to have flown by! I cannot, cannot wait to "see" her sweet face and the first photo of her and Miss Caroline together!!! So happy and excited for you friend — funny how there has to be so much more peace and calm with the impending arrival of your second because you DO know what do and know all of the ins and outs…. but it's adding a whole other little mini into the mix!! I can't wait to see your family grow and hear all about it!! Wish I was nearby to hangout over the next few weeks {{I'm thinking snocones and popsicles galore while the minis play in the water —- how I wish!!}}.
