Hello! Caroline…15 Months of Fun

Uncategorized

June 27, 2013

I claimed I would stop doing the monthly update/stat reports on Miss CC, yet low and behold, the sentimental part of me wants to have all these details written down so I can look back and remember some of these hilarious shenanigans, too! I won’t do them monthly, but maybe every 3-6 months as she gets bigger, just because the milestones are so exciting for all of us to experience and I am absolutely LOVING this age. On to the specifics…

My Big Girl Grows and Grows
We just visited the pediatrician last week for Caroline’s 15 month checkup, much to her dismay…she knows when we walk into that office that something is looming and she screams and fusses up a storm when the nurse comes in with needles…smart girl already. My little tater tot weighs in at 22 pounds, 12 ounces, and is 31 inches tall. She got her 15 month shots (BOO!) but came out with fancy new band-aids and a sticker and all was right in the world again. When we talked with the doctor about milestones and such, it seems Miss Caroline is doing extremely well…she can feed herself, kick and throw a ball, walk backwards (who knew that was important??), and her speech/language skills are ahead of the game, too. Go girl go!!

Personality for Days
She may look like her daddy, but her personality and sassy ways are all me…she got some of my traits, though I’m not sure if that is a good one or one that might get her me into trouble one day! If Caroline doesn’t get her way, she will let you know she isn’t happy…whether it’s shaking her head “no”, doing her fake cry, or throwing herself on the floor…a little tantrum always follows, but then we’re back to happy-go-lucky girl within a matter of minutes. We have taught her all sorts of fun things to say and do and her favorite game is to tell us the sounds different animals make-so far, we have mastered a cow, horse, duck, sheep, and dog. Some parents teach the alphabet, but we strive for barnyard success! She loves to play peek-a-boo, hide in mommy’s closet, give high-five, scream “hi-ya!”, and the dancing is by far her best trait-she’s got my rhythm (thank gosh, sorry Jeff) and baby LOVES music. She is still quite the little busy body when we are out and about, constantly waving, blowing kisses, and whatnot…looks like a Stranger Danger lesson is in our future. Whenever she does something worth noting, she instantly looks around like “aren’t you going to clap for me?”. Other favorites include riding along in her Cozy Coupe car, playing banging her wooden instruments, watching Mickey Mouse, flipping the pages while we read books, playing with her water table, swinging, sitting on the stairs, and doing ANYTHING outside.

Milestones and Such
Our girl is not only walking, but she is a maniac and tries to run all the time…it’s hilarious to watch, usually because she takes a tumble, but it always right back up and going again! She doesn’t look below when she walks so she is constantly tripping over whatever toys are on the floor. I thought the crawling stage was scary because they start figuring things out, but with walking comes a whole new level of “wonder what she will get into next?”…seriously, I cannot turn my back because I will find her unrolling the tissue paper in the bathroom, throwing my makeup into the bathtub, rummaging through the kitchen pantry, or opening the cabinets to discover household cleaners. Oi vey!
Food and Meal Time Fun!
I think Caroline has hit a growth spurt these past few weeks as she has turned into a little piggy when it’s time to eat…she has even been known to steal from others’ plates…oink oink. Favorites in the food arena include raspberries, cherries, blueberries, fresh carrots, bananas, rice cakes, cucumbers, goldfish, pasta, pancakes, tortilla chips, fruit snacks, hot dogs, PB&J sandwiches, cheese, yogurt, and ice cream.
She still isn’t a huge fan of chicken, but I’ve gotten her to branch out and try it when I let her use her kid size fork and feed herself…whatever works, right??

I know I say this all the time, but this is seriously the most fun stage we’ve embarked on yet…the constant talking, entertainment, and such makes everyday worthwhile and I relish in these moments because I know it’s all going to pass us by all too quickly.

  1. She's so sweet Natasha! Love checking in and seeing what's she up to!!

  2. Andee Layne says:

definitely such a fun stage and glad my little one isn't the only sassy girl 😉 She is such a beauty hun!

  3. Friend! I pinky promise I've been following along and keeping up with y'all…. I've just been the world's worst at commenting!

I totally agree — this stage she is at is so much fun!! And just wait, it won't be long until she is literally SPRINTING {as in I am full speed jogging, about to break a sweat to keep up with Jackson}. No clue how they quickly go from toddling around to running as fast as us?!

I loved reading this update – you can tell that she's all personality, which I absolutely love! J is the exact same and at the end of the day, it's a good way to be! It might just be a little more challenging when they're 1-3 and tantrums seem to be the answer. 😉

Love all the pictures…. sending hugs and kisses to that sweet girl!! Wish I was closer to love on Miss Carson, too… ahh, brand new baby cuddles — they make days far better! xoxo!

  4. Wait stop, the picture of her in your closet is so cute i cannot stand it! So glad you are all doing well:)

  5. Keep the updates coming! It's fun to see the little person she is turning into!

  10. I love all your posts & blog! New follower here 🙂 You actually inspired me to create my own family blog meettheneisslies.blogspot.com! I would love for you to follow me. So excited for this new adventure of connecting with other women through blogs! Have a great week
