Day 24: My Top Three Worst Traits

I know I have my vices I need to work through, and it took me a good bit of time to narrow these down…is that because I have a lot of bad traits or just because I am a crazy person? Either way, here you go, I’m calling myself out:

1. OCD: If you’ve read my blog for any amount of time, you can tell I am a bit OCD about some things…checking off to-do lists, having an organized/clean home, color coding the closets, etc. It’s not like I need to be on that TV show where they eat detergent or anything like that, but there are aspects where I am meticulous about how I want things done in a certain way. It drives Jeff NUTS, but that’s when I tell him he knew what he was getting into when he started dating me…hehe. Sometimes I wish I could let the laundry basket overflow, or I could go to bed without picking toys up, but I know myself all too well and leaving those things unfinished would keep me up ALL NIGHT LONG.
2. Impatient: Yes, I want it and I want it NOW (remember the song about the Golden Goose from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?)…that is me in a nutshell. I don’t like having to wait for ANYTHING and I am extremely impatient. This blows up in my face quite frequently when God ver so kindly reminds me it’s all on His time, not mine. I wish I was a “go with the flow” person, but alas, it’s just not in my DNA.

3. Selfish: Only child syndrome over here…can you tell?? I know there are a few friends and family that will get a good laugh out of this post once they read it, and it’s because they know I really am calling myself out about this trait. I am HORRIDLY selfish and don’t like to share.

Day 25: Something Someone Told Me About Myself That I’ll Never Forget (Good or Bad)
This bit goes back to my college years, my senior year to be exact, and it pertains to one of my favorite  advertising professors I had at UT. If any of my former classmates are reading, yes, I am talking about Dan Haygood, the most amazing and devoted teacher…he was incredible! One afternoon I was meeting him at his office to talk through our ad campaign strategy and what my group was thinking and he told me that I was one of the most dedicated people he had ever taught. He told me he could tell I was the type of person who didn’t do anything unless I gave it my all and that he knew I wouldn’t stop working on something until I was 100% satisfied. That stuck with me, and I still try to apply that thinking to my daily life…whether it be business or personal. I don’t want to look back on anything I did in my life with regret-I want to make sure I do the best I can with the talents and gifts God gave me.

Day 26: Something You Read Online. Leave a Link and Discuss if You Like.

I was browsing through Pinterest the other day when I stumbled upon this gem…an article written regarding “50 Rules for Dads of Daughters” and yes, I was a blubbering mess after I finished reading it. I immediately bookmarked this to give to Jeff one day and then gathered myself together…tearjerker I tell you!

  1. Anna says:

I'm a new SAHM to a sweet little peanut, but also very OCD. It's easy being a clean/organized freak when it's just two of us but a new baby totally throws everything for a loop. Everyone tells me to just "let it go" when it comes to laundry, bottles, cleaning, making the bed, organizing, etc. but I'm just not programmed that way. How did you juggle a newborn and daily chores?

  2. Nat says:

I am very impatient too! I don't know where I got it from but I hate having to wait for anything. What an awesome thing your teacher said to you- that is definitely something you'll never forget.
