All My Favorites
There are just certain things I cannot seem to live without during the holidays…whether it be a favorite event, movie, family tradition, or whatnot, I wanted to make a small list of a few of my favorite things about this season! Never know, maybe I can help someone stumble upon new to add to their list.

Holiday Movies: Love Actually, The Holiday, Meet Me in St. Louis, Elf, Home Alone,
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Christmas Carols: Carol of the Bells, O Holy Night, Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Holiday Books and Stories: The Night Before Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Polar Express, and The Twelve Days of Christmas
Holiday Songs/Tunes: Jingle Bells by Barbra Streisand, All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Symphony, March of the Toy Soldiers by Harry Connick, Jr, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland, and The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole
Seasonal Treats: My Grandmother’s divinty and champagne salad, homemade peppermint cookie bark, my Dad’s caramels and fudge, Harry and David’s Moose Munch
Special Traditions: Christmas Eve church service and communion with my family and then off to dinner at Ruth’s Chris, opening one gift on Christmas Eve, baking cookies with Mom, and filling out our Christmas memories book with everything we did that year (gifts received, inserting our Christmas card, listing all the things we did, etc)
Local Events: Dicken’s Christmas Festival in Franklin, Festival of Trees at Cheekwood, going to Opryland Hotel to look at the lights, The Nutcracker Ballet at TPAC
Sentimental Decorations: The special ornaments we collect signifying what happened that year (i.e. 2011 was a wedding cake, 2012 is a pink and white “baby’s first Christmas” ornament), and my collection of nutcrackers

Can you tell I am totally in the spirit already…it’s contagious I tell you!!
What are some of your favorite things this time of year??

  1. Mrs.HVK says:

Great post! My husband and I take a trip every December for our anniversary (12/2)! We go somewhere with lots of lights. We have done Gatlinburg/Chicago/Biltmore and now this year Nashville! We are staying at the Opryland Hotel! Super excited to see all the lights! Any other things that are a must see or do? We have tickets to a Opry show at the Ryman and may go see the Rockettes too!

    Thanks!

  2. I have never seen "Meet Me In St Louis" and I do love musicals so i will have to add it to our Netflix list! I think I enjoy Christmas more than ever now. It is so much fun to watch my kiddos enjoy this special time of year!

  3. Erin says:

I love this Christmas album idea! That'd be so fun to put the yearly Christmas card in to look back on one day

  4. Caroline says:

Divinity is wonderful. My dad's aunt makes the absolute best!

  5. erock says:

The Polar Express is one of my all-time favorite children's books, and I thought they did a great job remaking it into a movie! I watch a lot of the classic holiday movies with my kids each year, and think it's a great opportunity to engage them in something I used to really enjoy in my own youth. The Grinch, frosty and more will always be classics, and I'm glad they're playing them on network TV each year. I work a lot these days, at DISH, but while I work I have my DVR (the Hopper) record everything for me. Since a lot of these movies are shows on the big four networks, I set my Primetime Anytime feature and it automatically records every primetime show from all four! When I get home, we can just watch and laugh!

  6. Another good Christmas movie: "It's a wonderful life." I can't get enough of that one 🙂

I recently started following your blog. I just love it!

  7. CMae says:

I'm so copying this post! 🙂 I LOVE Meet me in St. Louis!!!:)

  8. Chrissy says:

    Hi Natasha,
Thank you for sharing the Christmas memory book. This is our babies first Christmas and this will be a wonderful way to document all her Christmases in the future. I'm going to buy one online today! I also loved your post on what Caroline is getting for Christmas. It will help me as I continue to keep shopping. 🙂 Have you seen the Laugh and Learn Activity Garden? It's similar to the activity house but it looks bigger and like it will have more things for them to play with.
