Our Baby Registry…Part III: The Fun Stuff and Misc. Needs

Uncategorized

February 15, 2012

Here it is friends! My third-and final-installment of our baby registry. I left some of my favorite little things for this post, as what registry could be complete without a few toys and some adorable random necessities? Enjoy!

JJCole Head Support and Strap Covers. Seeing as little bit will most likely be fairly small when she comes home, we registered for head support to help “cradle” her in the car seat for the first few months. In addition, we registered for the strap covers, too, so they won’t irritate her skin or cause a fuss.

Brica Day and Night Musical Auto Mirror/Brica UV Alert Shade. As much as we are on the go, I am hopeful Caroline will love the car! Wishful thinking, yes, but we’re positive people over here in our house. We were told to get the MUSICAL version of the auto mirror to keep her stimulated and to make sure we invested in sun shades as not to blind her sweet little eyes. Oh, that reminds me, baby sunglasses need to be added to my list!

Swaddling Blankets. If it one thing I’ve been told, it’s that the little one needs to be swaddled ASAP. Swaddling blankets are similar to being in mom’s tummy in that it keeps them warm, comfortable, and helps soothe and calm them, as well. It helps babies sleep more peacefully, and {fingers crossed}, may help them sleep through the night!

We registered for a number of swaddling blankets(HALO SleepSack/Summer Infant SwaddleMe/aden + anais 4-Pack SwaddlePlus Wrap) in different sizes and fabrics as I had heard fabulous things about each, so I thought we’d do some experimentation to see which works best for Caroline.
Toys. Hello! What wee one doesn’t need toys to keep themselves occupied?
Lamaze Jacques the Peacock/Mortimer the Moose/Stretch the Giraffe. Everyone went on and on about just how wonderful the Lamaze brand of toys is so of course we had to register for a few of the most adorable animals around! The contrasting colors and fun attachments/accessories are supposed to be fantastic for baby’s development.
Rockabye Baby – Beatles Lullaby Renditions CD. A CD with Beatles’ infamous songs remixed as baby lullabies?? How is this not a total win/win situation…funny enough, there are so many different versions out there that I know we’ll want to get a few more. I think Pappy (my dad) will be buying his little darling the Aerosmith CD since that is his favorite band.
Cloud B Sleep Sheep. There are so many “noise machines” out there, so I was a little overwhelmed in this department. It plays white noise, which I have been told is the best for helping the peanut fall asleep at night, and then it has extra sounds in case they prefer to hear a heartbeat/rain shower/ocean waves/whale songs. We shall see, we shall see. I love that it has an automatic timer that shuts itself off and has volume control, too.

Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether/So’Pure Sophie Giraffe Teething Ring. Another crowd favorite, Sophie helps develop baby’s senses and stimulates sight, hearing, smell, taste, and is supposed to soothe little ones when they have sore gums during teething. Plus, they are just too cute and one of Caroline’s aunts just LOVES giraffes {hehe, Aunt Bev, I love you!}
For other fun toys, we registered for this, this, this, and this.
So there you have it…the gear, the feeding/bathing/diapering/well-being gadgets, and the fun stuff we all actually want to scan! I hope you enjoyed my little tour through “natasha’s baby prep”, and i hope this was helpful. now we sit and wait to see what works, what doesn’t, and what we’ll be running to the store to grab during the wee hours of the night.

I know a great optometrist who sells some adorable pink Raybans for little girls! =)

  2. These are all so cute! Love seeing the baby stuff!

  3. The travel sleep sheep is a god send for the car! We couldn't have lived without it! Only thing I don't like is the timer because as soon as it would go off he would wake up. Gotta be fast at turning it back on!

  4. Andrea says:

I am loving all of your registry lists. And yes, I agree that you must have a ton of swaddle blankets! My daughter is almost a year old and I still swaddle her sometimes, haha

  5. Kaytee says:

both of my babies love the sleep sheep! my 2 year old still sleeps with his and it's super convenient for travel! 🙂

  6. I love all your baby goodies! So cute!

  7. My friend got us the little sleep sheep! So cute! And I've been eying that giraffe! OH and just got the Aden swaddle blankets…love the gauze feel!

  8. Great lists! Thanks for posting! I shall keep it all in mind when the time comes! 🙂

  9. SSM says:

    Hello Natasha,

I will be posting all of my favorite baby items soon to.

I hope you have the time to check them out. I love to tell people at baby stores what I used….my husband is like don't bother.

When you really love an item it's easy to promote it.

The first two items that you have listed came with our Chicco stroller. We did get the sleep sheep(and it would be good for in the car) but we already had the plug in (not battery operated) Dex sound machine (we purchased from Babiesrus).

My daughter is 2 and we're still using the sleep sacks with feet! At the time, we had to order them online…they didn't have them in stores.

I will have to look back at your other two posts and let you know if I have any other suggestions.

I really loved the pink chamois boppy pillow cover that I ordered for my little girl with her first name monogrammed on it(didn't really go for all the generic boppy pillow cover patterns).

    Enjoy your day!

  10. KRISTIN says:

Such cute stuff! I have yet to have a baby but I've got the fever BAD! And all this adorable stuff does not help. 🙂

  11. Rhiannon says:

I can hardly wait for you to have your little babe! Eeeek 🙂

  12. Shari says:

I can't believe she will be here so soon! 🙂

  13. Kim says:

Great lists! Sophie the giraffe is a MUST! And as a side note, if you plan to breastfeed, the aden+anias swaddle blankets work great to cover up because they are big, light, cling to your clothing no there are no wardrobe malfunctions, and fairly absorbent (surprisingly) for burping. I use them more for that than to swaddle since neither of my kiddos liked to be swaddled. And since you'll be feeding in the summer, the material will keep you and baby cooler because trust me, it gets HOT under there! Just a little tip… take it or leave it as I'm sure you get many. 🙂 I hope you're enjoying your LAST FULL MONTH of pregnancy. Sounds crazy when you put it like that, doesn't it?

  14. Kayln says:

Soo exciting! I cannot believe how close you are! I feel like it was just yesterday I was reading about your engagement 🙂

  15. You picked Great Stuff Natasha! I am secretly kinda jealous of all the upgraded stuff they came out with even since L was born just 6 months ago. Cant wait to meet miss Caroline at the beach in May. We just booked a house for the week so were def in! L and C can play with their Sophie giraffes together because we don't leave home without it! xoxo

  16. Allyson says:

These are so precious! I hope sweet Caroline loves them!

  19. I am so glad I found your blog and followed! You have the cutest blog and I am loving your posts! I wasn't known of your blog till now, so congratulations on your little one! Must be so fun having a girl first 🙂 I can't imagine how much fun shopping is!
    Have a great day!!

  20. Julia says:

OMG I am so buying that Beatles lullabye CD!!

  21. Those items are GREAT! Olivia has that lamaze peacock, we call him "freddie" lol and she LOVES him, I was thinking about getting another lamze toy for her.

Having a mirror for the back seat in the car is a MUST!! There ahve been so many times I have been alone in the car and the mirror gives me so much relief. If Olivia is sleeping I can watch her breathing or I can make sure if she is fussy if she spit up or what is going on!

  22. Kristen says:

My little guy HATED being swaddled (and was somewhat of a Houdini when we did swaddle him). So don't take off all the tags just yet 🙂

  23. a' la mode says:

Hey sweet pea =) Order yourself a sophie the giraffe strap for the car seat….the most adorable fabrics!- tutimnyc is the brand…..I get them for all my friends =)

  24. a' la mode says:

sorry, tutimnyc.com is the website but you can get them on amazon too =)

also, the vanilla flavored teethers from vulli (same brand as sophie are awesome too)

Have you been into Helen's Childrens shop in Green Hills? I used to babysit one of the girls that works there (allie Little, she is a doll) when I taught at Ensworth back in the day, and she will tell you all the good stuff too =)

Adain and Anais make these really great muslin big bigs too- those are really nice!

The miracle blanket is the best swaddler out there, hands down. I used the velcro kiddapataumus (bad spelling shelli!) ones when she was tiny and then when a little bigger and started busting out of it, I switched her to the miracle blanket.

Have you been to Essex (sometimes called Bargain Hunt)? The big one in Rivergate and the one at Grassmere on Nolensville (bring your hubs) have TONS of amazing baby stuff- SO CHEAP. Go after your showers, to pick up things you didn't get.

I am obsessed with Little Giraffe brand little blankies and the double sided luxe is the best- and I scored a $200 double sided luxe full blanket at Essex for $8 last week. To give you perspective, I have the matching blankie, pillow, and stuffed animal and paid no less than $40 for each of those tiny items. I have also seen the miracle blankets, TONS of sophie the giraffes, etc there lately too. The Mt. Juliet one carried a lot of good baby items too.

    xoxo shel
