The Best Day Ever…The Ceremony

wedding recaps

September 7, 2011

Back again for more wedding recap fun, and this is where it gets really good…the actual wedding. Our ceremony took place at the famous Scarritt Bennett Wightman Chapel {the #1 place in Nashville to tie the knot!}. Looking back, it’s crazy to see just how emotional I was that day–nerves getting the best of me, literally shaking because I was so nervous and excited, but to see Jeff in all of these pictures and know that he felt the exact same way, it makes my heart so happy…here are a few details about our ceremony:
We had a string trio, as well as an organist and pianist for the ceremony. We chose very traditional music to play which included:

  • Mothers walking down to Trumpet Voluntary- Clarke
  • My friend Cami singing Ave Maria
  • Bridemaids coming into the church to Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring- Bach
  • My Dad and I walking down the aisle to Canon in D- Pachelbel
  • Jeff and I leaving the church: Wedding March- Mendelssohn

During the ceremony, we had selected friends to read specific scripture passages: my friend Julie read John 15:9-17 and Jeff’s friend Sterling read Colossians 3: 12-17. We also had our bridal party surround us in prayer during the latter part of the ceremony and then read the Lord’s Prayer aloud together…one of my favorite moments of the day! Without further adieu, here is our ceremony recap:

 william and maddie…so cute

facing the crowd…our pastor asked us to turn around to see everyone that was there to support us on our wedding day–such a sweet thing to do

the magic kiss!!
 we’re FINALLY married!!

That was the single best feeling in the entire world…knowing that the “hard part” of the day was behind us, that we were officially husband and wife, and that the fun was about to begin at our reception–after the family and bridal party portraits of course! That’s in store for next week 😉
