Tis the Season…

weekend

November 15, 2010

to be thankful for life’s little blessings… after all, it’s really the little things that end up being life’s big things, right? After this weekend, I walked away feeling humbled, content, and in a happy place–God is really showing me just how much we all have to be thankful for.
So, I know you’re all dying to know how we did at Christmas Village aren’t you?? Well, we conquered and made it out alive–those women can be a little scary I tell you. Mom had her eye on a lantern for her mantle, but low and behold, a mean couple came in with one swoop and stole it from under us… oh well, on to the next one. We did get some fantastic deals–a new pewter serving dish {this is my weakness I tell you, and I think all we registered for is serving dishes!}, jewlery and some fun winter accessories, dips/sauces/rubs for holiday cooking, and yummy snacks along the way. After we shopped the entire afternoon, we headed to Mafiaoza’s for some pizza and wine… perfecto Friday night!
The next morning, we were supposed to take pictures but had to reschedule because Jeff had to work–him being “on call” 1 weekend a month is not my favorite, but that’s his crazy schedule so we have to deal I guess. With nothing else planned, I headed to Old Time Pottery for some holiday decor and racked up–a candleabra for the coffee table, garland and ornaments for our tree(s), a new red berry wreath for the door, and some other odds and ends.
Saturday evening, we headed to my parent’s house to chaffeur them to Puckett’s Grocery for Mom’s bday dinner… of course we had to get her a little something so we added a Lenox Sentiment Bowl to her china collection! Sneaky, sneaky–she had been hinting all along, yet little did she know I had already bought her present weeks before! Dinner was a blast–fried green beans, sweet potato fries and bbq, and a to-die-for blackberry cobbler! {Can you tell we like to eat?} They even had live music… really fun to watch and always neat to check out local bands here in Nashville.

Sunday morning, I ventured to Lebanon to do some early Christmas shopping and came out glowing from all the savings! I can’t help but always try to save as much as possible so we can really get great deals and get a lot more for less… lesson learned!

And then yesterday afternoon, Hurt and Meg threw a baby shower for our friend Cami. She lives in Memphis so we don’t get to see her as often as we like, but I was so glad so many of our college friends got to get together to spoil baby Preston–funny how we’re now progressing from wedding to baby showers and I can’t help but get a little freaked out. Are we really old enough for our friend’s to have a baby?? Awesome job girls–everyone had a blast, and the party food and favors were adorable!
