November 1st…Really?

Uncategorized

November 1, 2010

Moving at warp speed, the celebrations of All Hallow’s Eve have now come and gone… I cannot believe we’re now looking at Thanksgiving a mere 24 days away and only 54 days until Christmas–I need to get on the ball and start my shopping now!!

This past weekend was all about taking time to “recover” and ease back into things after my sickness last week. When I got home Friday afternoon from work, someone had bought me flowers from the local flower shop and surprised me… so sweet, and he specifically picked fall colored daisies because he knows how much I love them–very thoughtful fiance indeed!
That night, Jeff had made reservations for one of my favorite places, Maggianos! We hadn’t been there in quite some time so we decided to indulge a bit and give in to their italian goodness… even better, they have a special going on for their signature pastas that are buy 1 get 1 free–yes, run there immediately! And of course, we just had to try their special fall dessert, a homemade pumpkin cheesecake with cinnamon whipped cream–AMAZING!!!
Saturday morning, Mom and I met up and headed to The White Room in Murfreesboro so she could try on more MOB dresses… after a successful trip and another dress added to “the list of possibilities”, I headed home to make some of Paula Deen’s famous mexican cornbread and Monster Munch for my family’s fall party at my aunt’s house. I am telling you, you must make this stuff–it’s incredible but oh so addictive!!

Ingredients

12 cups popped popcorn
1 package almond bark
1 cup candy corn
1 cup salted peanuts
1/2 cup reese’s pieces
Directions
Pop popcorn and place in a VERY large bowl. Pour peanuts, candy corn, and reeces pieces on top.Take a knife and break up almond bark. Melt according to package directions. Pour over popcorn mixture. Stir until well coated and then spread onto waxed paper. Let completely dry and then break into clumps before putting in individual goodie bags or in a serving dish. Enjoy!
The rest of our weekend was pretty relaxing, going to church, making our very first pot roast and enjoying dinner with the Grunkes, before giving out candy to our trick-or-treaters and ending the night with Boardwalk Empire. A great way to spend the last weekend of October =)
