Top 2 Tuesday and Labor Day Weekend Recap

weekend

September 7, 2010

Oh…this morning’s weather has me thinking FALL FALL FALL!! Perfect to coincide with Taylor’s weekly Top 2 Tuesday for this week…
Top 2 favorite things about fall
1. Festivals and Family Fun
Every year, my Mom makes a list of all the things going on in and around Nashville surrounding everything that is fall, and we make a point to visit as many of these events as possible… from pumpkin patches to the Germantown Oktoberfest to Christmas Village and the Bell Buckle festival, these are traditions we look forward to and allow us to spend lots of quality time together…we just can’t get enough!
2. FOOTBALL
Not even a question… love it and our TV remains on ESPN practically every hour from September through December–just can’t get enough of the greatest sport! Tailgating, cheering on our favorite team, and sporting game day gear, there is just something so wonderful about football and everything that comes with it =)
So, was your Labor Day weekend as fabulous as mine was?? I have to admit, 3-day weekends should come a lot more frequently because I feel like I am so much more energized and can tackle my work week head on… Friday night, we headed to K-town and had a cookout at Bev and Christian’s–after some fun drinking games and lots of yummy food, we called it an early night so we’d be ready to go bright and early the next morning. Waking up on Saturday was almost as good as Christmas morning, because it was 70 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and absolutely GORGEOUS! Perfect game day weather. We met Meg and Aaron and her brother for lunch at Downtown Grill and then headed to get a few hours of tailgating in before the game.

Is our newly renovated stadium not beautiful???
After the game (VOLS win 50-0), we headed to Rooster’s–the best neighborhood college hangout ever–to indulge in some late night snacks… beer, nachos, wings, and pretzels and cheese dip were just calling our names and we couldn’t say no. Ran into some old friends and had quite a time with the Grunke’s, as usual =)
Sunday morning, we headed to have a light brunch with the Millers before heading back to Nashville for some relaxation time with my parents… they came over and we treated them to homemade shrimp and grits–I seriously cannot wait to post the recipe: it was DELISH and oh so easy!! Then we watched Date Night (VERY cute movie) and headed to bed.

And to round out our long weekend, I got up yesterday and headed to the gym to get back on track (oh I was terrible this weekend!!) and then Jeff and I ventured out to one of the stores to work on our wedding registry–SO MUCH FUN!!!! I was nice and let him do all the scanning while I picked out all the goodies…teamwork, right???
What a wonderful weekend to round out “summer” although we’re back into the 90 degree weather this week so it still feels like a sauna… thank heavens for a short work week, a bday celebration for my best friend on Saturday, and then heading to Austin for work on Sunday!!
