Top 2 Tuesday and A New Appetizer Recipe!

Uncategorized

August 10, 2010

I’ve been giving myself a headache this morning in trying to think of my top 2 tips for Taylor over at the Undomestic Momma. This has been hard as I think I am someone who loves to give ideas and advice to others, but here is what I came up with:
Shopping Tip–Put Things on Hold!
I know this may sound generic and simple—and yes, it is—but I am a firm believer in putting items on hold. This causes you to walk away from a potential spur-of-the-moment-buy and really makes you think ‘do I really want that shirt/purse/dress?’ I always ask the sales associate to put the item on hold for 24 hours—that way, I can go home, think about whether or not I need it/want it, or I just wanted to walk out of the store with a bag—haha! It works like a charm for me and I have way less buyer’s remorse since I have started doing this. It really works!!
Money-Saving Tip—Subscribe to Living Social/ Groupon
Do you love saving money and using coupons?? Yes, my southern momma raised me right to cut corners whenever and wherever possible and these 2 sites are perfect for all you money-saving ladies out there! Each day (depending on your city’s special), they email you a deal for the day with DRASTIC savings—a few weeks ago, they have a mani/pedi special at a local nail salon for $20=AMAZING and something we all love to treat ourselves to every now and then. Today’s Groupon special is tempting me (even though I’m on a diet): $15 for a dozen cupcakes—sounds too good to be true!
So last night, I had a few–well, more than a few–of my lovely girlfriends over to watch the premiere of Bachelor Pad…
Boy, this drama-filled show didn’t disappoint did it? Psycho Michelle is already gone after she scared Disney-Princess Tenley, Don Juan got the boot after he hurt poor Nikki after their semi-love affair, and Craig Hair Man scared us all again with his narcassistic ways…ewww I just cringe when I see him on camera with his Miami Viceness=gross! We couldn’t help but be entertained with all the kissing and cuddling and coniving ways of Elizabeth and Natalie last night–those two are going to be little vixens I tell you now! Anyways, stay tuned for this must-see show…as if ABC couldn’t stoop low enough, now they’ve mixed together Big Brother/The Real World/Survivor all together to keep us entertained this summer…LOVE IT!
And P.S. you must try this EASY and yummy appetizer I made last night–perfect for girl’s night!
Ingredients
2 packages of mini phyllo shells (in freezer section at grocery store)
8 oz brie cheese, double cream
Blackberry Preserves (or any flavor you prefer)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Place the shells on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray
Cut the rind off of the brie and cut into 1/2 inch cubes and put one into each shell
Top each brie bite with preserves
Bake in the oven for 7 minutes or until brie has melted and phyllo shells are golden brown
Enjoy!
