Wedding Wednesday… Flower Power

wedding

July 21, 2010

Cheers to another week flying by… I swear this wedding planning process is making me a crazy woman, with contracts being signed and deposits going out each week, but I wouldn’t have it any other way {remind me of that if I ever start to complain, OK??} =)
This weeks marks another HUGE component of both the ceremony AND the reception… AKA the flowers! My Mom and I are meeting with an incredible floral designer tomorrow afternoon and I couldn’t be more thrilled than for us to talk through what we’re thinking, see her portfolio, and discuss how we plan to make my dream a reality.
I feel lucky in the fact that my ceremony venue is so ornate that I don’t want too many flowers overwhelming the church, a fact that will help to save some $$ too…I’m looking for simple pew flowers, altar arrangements, and fun flower wreaths for the gorgeous doors outside! But then we have an open, airy style reception venue so I can’t wait to see what we can brainstorm as far as centerpieces and then the accompanying bouquets for me, my bridesmaids and flower girl, and of course the boutonnieres for the boys.

The Inside of My Church {insert my happy, smiling face here}
Our Reception Venue {and the soft draping I am going to be using, too!}
And of course, here is my flower inspiration board–tell me what you think!

Although I am a girl with a budget, I am also a bride that seems to love the expensive flowers–isn’t that just lovely?? With my love of anemones, peonies, hydrangeas, and roses, this first encounter with talking flowers should be quite interesting… who knew stems of these beauties could cost a mere fortune??

Can’t wait to report back and let you know how it goes!!

  1. Melissa says:

    The inside of that church is beautiful! I like your flower choices!

  2. SB is such a beautiful ceremony location!!

  3. Tatum-LeTard says:

    I love that church and the reception drapes are beautiful! Good luck with the flowers… it's deficult to not have expensive taste when the most gorgeous stuff is what costs the most!

  4. Oh the reception Drapes are amazing! I love the soft colors for the flowers. You just made me very excited to pick out the flowers for my wedding!

  5. ~jacquelyn says:

    the church is gorgeous!

    i love peonies too, but they werent blooming for my april wedding, boo– but also saved some $$ cause i would have wanted them everywhere 🙂 pretty pretty!!!

  6. Caroline says:

    Flowers cost a fortune although they do look and smell so nice. They can do wonders for an empty space. I love your flower board. So pretty!

  7. Love your location pictures!! The draping is just so lush…

  8. Thank goodness, my church is the SAME way. So ornate and beautiful, I'll only need modest pew nosegays and a couple of average floral arrangements for the altar.

    I'm scared of seeing the florist; so, I've been putting it off. I'm afraid I'll faint at the estimate. Ha!

    Good luck!!!

    And LOVE the fabric draped in the reception venue. So pretty:)

  9. I can't wait to hear how it went. The venues are absolutely gorgeous! I simply love the yellow and black together. Good luck tomorrow!

  10. Hi Natasha! I'm a friend of Jenn Wade. I follow your blog, and I love reading about your wedding planning. It's so much fun seeing a wedding come together! I'm certain it will be amazing!
    I know it is quite a ways off, but what are you doing for makeup for the big day? I'm a Mary Kay consultant so I work with makeup a lot and have been working on my bridal portfolio for over a year. I'd love to feature you in my bridal portfolio if you haven't decided on a makeup artist already!

    Happy Planning!
    Mandy
