The End of an Era

Uncategorized

March 5, 2010

Some of my readers may not understand this post and I am okay with that… others that have read my blog for any length of time or know me personally will know just how hard this is for me–this is one of those moments in life I have been secretly dreading {even though great things are yet to come} because it means a chapter of my life is closing.
After this weekend, my beloved best friend and I will no longer be roommates. I am having to post this on a day I know she won’t read it {due to traveling out of town for work} because I can’t bear the thought that she’ll be sitting at her desk sobbing like the emotional basketcase I know she is. Sure, I feel lucky to have a best friend that knows every-single-little-bitty-thing about me and still loves me nonetheless–I guess God was really looking out for us when we moved in together more than 3 years ago, but I can’t help but be saddened at the thought that after I move this weekend, we will no longer be sleeping under the same roof at night.
Margaret Parks,
Words cannot express the amount of happiness you have brought into my life. We’ve weathered many storms together and have come out two extremely strong women–we’re girls no more, but women who are planning weddings and embarking on a new journey in life with our soon-to-be husbands. Lord knows I am so thankful they get along so well or else they’d be screwed for the next 50 years. We have transformed from constant party-goers and out all-nighters who love to dance at the bars and eat late night Taco Bell to homebodies who love nothing more than a game night with our closest friends. We have gone through so many life experiences together–boys, jobs, family hardships, personal triumphs, and everything in between. We’ve cried together, laughed together, fought together, and loved together and I am so thankful for such an amazing woman to call my best friend. I never in a million years thought I could have a friendship like ours and I am so thankful that you’re my “one” {other than Jeff of course}. We have so much to look forward to together and I promise to always be there for you… I love you more than words could ever describe and I can’t wait for what’s still to come.
OXOX,
Natasha

This tribute goes out to you when I look back at all our roommate memories: Masscorns, Crazy Christmas parties, our birthday celebrations each year, long pool days and getting kicked out, our collection of bridesmaid dresses, NOP, sleepovers in each other’s beds, Seaside beach trips, being Tin Roof groupies, trivia nights, the Kenny Chesney/Keith Urban summertime concert, “Shutever”, downtown Memphis brawl in the street after Cami’s wedding, Alabaster Montevallo, pimping out the Jeep and the Volvo, The Grunkings, Zumba mornings, bathroom photoshoots before going out, “falling asleep” in the parent’s van after the bar in Destin, introducing Board Night to our friends, MOE’S, my kermie/lobster, rando kissy face pictures, “that’s lovely”, not making it past midnight on EITHER of our 25th birthdays, countless others I probably should leave private between us, and of course “I’ll spit on a b*%tch”

“Sometimes in life there really are bonds formed that can never be broken. Sometimes you really can find that one person who will stand by you no matter what. Maybe you’ll find it in a spouse and celebrate it with your dream wedding, but there’s also the chance that the one person you can count on for a lifetime, the one person who knows you sometimes better than you know yourself, is the same person who’s been standing beside you all along”

  20. Amber says:

What a great tribute to your friendship! You are completely justified in how you feel. There is something incredibly comforting about having your best girlfriend in the other room every night. I struggled with the same thing when I was married and moved in with Steven. Living with a boy can be so different, but equally amazing and exciting. Ahh..sometimes growing up is just hard to do! Your friendship will take on a new and brighter meaning. Now you will purposefully make time for one another and look forward to coffee breaks and a good girl's night out. I hope you have a safe and easy moving day!

  21. What an absolutely beautiful friendship you have. It sounds perfect, and it's wonderful that husbands in tow, you'll be able to make so many more incredible memories together.

  22. Meg says:

How sweet! This meant more to me than you'll ever know. And for anyone wondering, many tears were shed. I LOVE YOU!!!
