Photo Challenge Day 2: Words and Brain Banter

1. Yesterday I started the February Photo-A-Day Challenge--today's category is "words". it is one of my favorite quotes that I wrote out this morning. Oh what fun!
2. The Superbowl is fast approaching on Sunday...shout out to Eli and the NY Giants, for I am cheering for a Manning boy of course! I can't lie, I always get more excited about the food and commercials than the actual game-this year, I found some great Superbowl posts from fellow bloggers for food ideas...check them out here, here, and here.
3. I got the best package delivered on Monday-another Etsy find! I stumbled across Dilly Baby a few months ago and bookmarked it so I could purchase a Change N Go system-a way to conveniently transport diapers, wipes, and a changing pad all in one! I absolutely love it and the Ppoppies Amy Butler pattern is perfect.
4. Tuesday night, I finished reading my first book of 2012-Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. Fantastic read, and it's quite the pageturner. Hops from present day in Paris back to 1942 during WWII. Ready to get started on #2 this year...any ideas you can send my way would be wonderful!

5. I have been on a shopping spree lately for Little Miss-with such cute spring stuff out on the racks, how can I say no? Here are some new additions to Caroline's closet: {P.S. is it obvious I heart stripes and patterns?}
6. Opry Mills is FINALLY set to reopen in 54 days! I cannot wait for my favorite outlet mall to reopen with some new stores {Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren among a few others}...perfect indoor place to take the little one for shopping adventures during maternity leave.
I know the groundhog technically saw his shadow this morning, but if we're in for 6 more weeks of temperatures like we've been having in Music City, winter can stay around and I won't be complaining one bit! Mid 60s today with loads of sunshine-happy day!!

Oh What a Night

Happy Happy Monday friends! Did you all have a fabulous weekend? They never seem to last nearly long enough, do they? Ours was jam packed as usual, with a quick, but fun trip to Knoxville. Here's the jist:
Friday night, we rolled into town and headed straight to Bev's for pumpkin painting...take me back to kid land, and we had a BLAST!

The  before...
and the after! Hello chevron AKA Charlie Brown
The boys headed out for late night fun and I know Jeff enjoyed a "real" night out with drinks and guy time--although I think someone was suffering a bit the next morning due to his 4AM bedtime (haha).

Saturday morning, we got up and got everything ready to head to our parking spot to setup the tailgate. The boys were so sweet to set up everything while Meg and I got to town on the food spread and then friends started parading in...a beautiful day spent with great friends with ideal football weather. Unfortunately, let's put it this way...the highlight of the game for me was my favorite game day dog and dippin dots as we lost to the GA Bulldogs--a sad day in the life of a Volunteer fan. Boo =(

Early tailgating
 Me and the hubs
Rob, Meg, and Giant Christian (his attempt at trying to look tall)
Jules and Jon...the next to be married!!
Cannot wait for their engagement party coming up in a few weeks
and the other newlyweds...Jo and Rhett
 Ashley, Lauren, and Me
 Me and Cary--love him so!
Doesn't get any better than this glorious sight!
The infamous running through the "T"
Hilarious--notice the 2nd down, and 56 yards? Yeah, it got even worse
for GA on that drive...4th and 57--that has to be a record
Sunday, we met up with Jeff's mom for coffee so we could catch-up and have some family time before we met up for brunch with Jay, Ashley, and Sheila to finalize our will documents...told you we're getting old, huh? However, SO necessary since we're expanding the family and felt good to get this all settled. Then it was home for us where we got to work... Jeff replacing lights, me doing laundry and cooking dinner, and then both of us working to get some more art on the walls...cannot wait to show it off to you!

Back to reality this morning, although I did get to hear a sweet little noise at my 17 week appointment this morning--the bambino's heartbeat going strong at 145 bpm! Only 8 more days until we find out the gender...countdown is on!

Wish That I Was on Old Rocky Top

Oh but wait, I was! If I babble on about this weekend's shenanigans, it's only because I am needing to catch up on my sleep...the lack of that this 3-day weekend has definitely taken a toll on my ability to think properly {hence, why did I have to come to work?}
Jam packed and action filled, we had a great time spent with great friends. Through crazy weather scenarios, we managed to make the best of it all and had a wonderful time!
Friday night, we spent a fun evening at Julie's new house...she is really putting her personality on each and every room and it's really coming together. Hamburgers and hotdogs were the perfect way to begin the festivities and we had a blast...not to mention Bev was so sweet and baked Meg cupcakes since she can't be here this coming weekend to celebrate her birthday.
surprise, surprise, someone's on the phone!
so many candles, so little time ;)

Saturday morning, we decided to hang around the house and take it easy, knowing it was going to be one long day of tailgating and football gaming. We watched Auburn pull another hat trick {seriously, how do they always come back to win?} and then we were on our way to tailgate before the game. Fast forward 1 hour and it's 97 degrees in the bright sun...not the most pleasant way to kick-off the fun, so we parked our happy selves under the tent next to the industrial size fan...geniuses I tell you! Notice I finally got to wear my new orange romper--I was so excited!
first UT game of the 2011 season!!

yay for best friend getting to stop by, even if just for a second
 love these girls

 me and my hubby
now do you know you match?? haha

Once we headed into Neyland, the weather alerts started coming so we were ushered into the concourse to stay out of the thunder and lightening--so what's a girl to do you ask? Dive in to her first game day dog of the season...and yes, that is all it takes to make me happy. After patiently waiting for 1.5 hours due to rain showers that never seemed to end, we called it a night and decided to leave. We've got 7 more home games since we have season tickets so we've got plenty of time for football fun. Afterwards, we headed to Taylor's house for more football and more late night munchies.
yes, i took a picture--it was that good
 Christian modeling with the puppies...hilarious
Sunday, the boys got up and headed to Panera to get us breakfast and then we split up...the boys went to the driving range, while us girls decided we needed an afternoon rendezvous at our favorite local mexican place, Soccer Taco. Boo to the weather for the rain came in and changed all of our plans for laying out. That evening, Meg's parents had all of us over for a huge party to celebrate Boom's Day...check out the main event--an 18 pound cut of prime rib. Unfortunately, the rain kept us inside, so we watched the firework show from the comfort of their loft. It's amazing how we can turn any situation into a showboat of fun.
Finally, Monday rolled around and it was time to head home. We spent our evening catching up on our favorite TV and dreading the coming work week...not to mention, there may have been a little bit of napping going on, too! ;)
is that thing not huge??
 awww...aren't they cute??
 bff time is the best
the three musketeers...weekends with them make everything so much better
mary, taylor, meg, me, and bev...fun friends for a fun evening!

Cheers to a 4-day work week...I can totally make it! So much more to look forward to this coming weekend so I need to get rested up and make the most of the weekdays. Hope you all have a great day!

The First Football Friday...Go Vols!

I am like a kid on Christmas morning that's about to run down the stairs and see all of Santa's hard work right in front of their eyes...and yes, its all because of a little thing we like to call Tennessee Football!
My bags are packed, I'm decked out in my beloved UT orange, I've already sung Rocky Top at the top of my lungs in the car this morning, and I'm anxiously watching the minutes tick by until we're in the car and headed to God's Country AKA Knoxville. My friend Jenn posted yesterday a sweet sentimental tribute to the boys in orange and I don't think I could've said it any more perfectly--visit her blog here to read this perfect love affair with anything and everything VOL.
This weekend is sure to be a huge crazyfest of nonstop fun! Tonight, we're making our way to visit Julie and Jon at their new house for a cookout. Tomorrow morning, us girls are going to visit Market Square for farmer's market and then get ready for tailgating before the game!! It's always fun to see old friends during football season who you don't get to catchup with the rest of the year, since we all love to come in town to "play" and act like college kids again.
Tomorrow night, we're headed to Taylor and Wes' house for after-game fun and then Sunday marks much-needed pool time and Boom's Day...dinner at the Alcorns followed by the fireworks spectacular. Could this weekend get any better? I think not! Here are just some of my favorite shots from the past few years and football gamedays!!

Ahhh there really is nothing like it in the world...get ready for a full recap next week!! Enjoy this fantasticly long 3-day weekend and Happy Labor Day, too ;)
