One Room at a Time || The Dining Room

I’ve made you wait long enough… but sometimes it’s worth it, and in this case, I promise you my gal Kendall Simmons is going to knock your socks off!
It was a long-time coming, and you can see the initial inspiration idea here, but let me tell you, the final product is above and beyond what I ever could have fathomed. Without further adieu, I introduce to you our formal dining room:
Yes, I was thrilled when Jeff told me to take the lead on this room… I wanted bold, big color since it’s the very first room you see when you walk into our home and I knew I wanted it to make a big statement. I think that made Kendall go to the extreme and I was happy to push the limits when it came to pattern mixing, tones, and of course the wallpaper.
Schumacher has my heart when it comes to all things wallpaper and once Kendall showed me the Queen of Spain variation in black, there was no going back… it’s classic with flair and it’s been in their collection since the 60s so I know it’s timeless and never going out of style.
Believe it or not, the chandelier was the one element in the room that was originally there when we purchased our home… I loved it so much that we decided to incorporate it into the dining room design and everything else we took out to start with a clean slate!
We also opted to incorporate original artwork from Minted as a component of the room and I love the black and white cactus print Kendall selected… simple yet stately and the right eclectic mix right above my favorite feature, the bar cart!
Ahhh yes, the bar cart… another item that was a must-have for this space. We love to entertain and I couldn’t wait for pretty glasses, cups, colorful bottles, and such to make this station a working piece of art!

In terms of the art, I had been eyeing the works of Erin McIntosh for quite some time and was specifically seeking out her abstracts for the person one to fill the space above our dining room buffet. The tones of navy, pink, green, and gray were the icing on top of this pure perfectness and I stare at it constantly as I’m always finding a new element about the piece to enjoy! And then Kendall introduced me to a new-found local artist, Ed Nash, and we scooped up two of his small abstract squares to hang on both sides of our front window… supporting local and shopping small!

Can you tell I am just absolutely overjoyed and in love with Kendall’s masterpiece? I cannot tell her thank you enough… I might have a certain design aesthetic that I gravitate to, but Kendall gives me the courage to pull the trigger and go for it without second guessing myself. I truly couldn’t imagine completing our home without her by my side. Interested in individual pieces? I linked the room sources for each detail below.
