As a small business owner myself, I am happy to support American Express’ initiative to Shop Small this holiday season. By participating in Small Business Saturday, you can help to keep small businesses on the rise and encouraging America to keep things local.
This initiative was started in 2010 and has been gaining more recognition every year. American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help businesses gain more customers and encourage people to shop small the Saturday after Thanksgiving. There are over 27 million small businesses in the United States, a number that keeps growing, helping to create jobs, contributing revenue and giving back to the community. There is so much to go around and we can all do our part!
In addition, there are so many ways to join in this cause…you can venture to the American Express website and join in by posting pictures to social media with the hashtag (#shopsmall) whenever you purchase today and head out (either online or in your city) to check out your favorite small businesses… whether it’s to a local eatery, a small gift shop, or whatever suits your fancy, please help us out, no matter how small.
