Couldn't Get Here Any Sooner...Happy Friday!

Friday, September 9, 2011

Though we did have a 4-day work week, doesn't it feel like it just dragged by? Some parts of life are sweeping by, but it seems like days at work get longer and longer...oh bother!
However, this weekend we have non-stop fun planned--bring on the happiness:
Tonight, we've got a fun group going out to celebrate my best friend's birthday...she's going to kill me for saying this, but almost HAPPY 27TH BIRTHDAY MEG!!! You know I love you more than a fat kid loves ice cream {well, almost that much}...but you get the idea. This woman has been there for me through thick and thin--the epitomy of what a BFF should be, and I am so fortunate to have her. The birthday treats are baked {recipe to come next week because I may have already sampled them}, and everyone is anxious to spoil our darling girl rotten.

Tomorrow brings back more UT football as we take on Cincinnati. We won't be joining the festivities this weekend though, for we've got a wedding to attend to. My friend Courtney is getting married so Jeff and I are off for what I know will be a gorgeous outdoor wedding and reception. Seeing others tie the knot makes me giddy ;)

Sunday, Jeff and I are having a "date day"...first the normal church attendance, then off to somewhere fun for brunch, and then we've promised each other we're going to have an afternoon at the bookstore. Odd for us, but I'm really looking forward to a change of pace as we're wanting to stock up on books for the beach and other "necessary reading".
And finally, on a serious note, have any of you been seeing the coverage regarding the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks? I couldn't help but sit and watch Matt Lauer this morning interviewing Rudy Giuiliani to see our progress thus far and taking a tour of the new tower...I honestly can't believe it's been this long already. I know I'll never forget the day it happened--I was in Biology class my freshmen year at UT and I think I covered my mouth in disbelief at what was transpiring in NYC. Just make sure you take time this weekend to think about those we lost, those that helped save others, those that gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect us, and just how far we've come as a country since that horrific day...a sense of comradery that fills in each of our hearts to know that no matter how divided we may be politically/economically/etc, nothing can tear our nation apart because we all love our country and can't help but feel a sense of overpowering pride. I know I will never forget.

  1. Have a good weekend! Browsing around the bookstore sounds like a lot of fun. And of course, the various festivities sound fun too!

  2. Your date day sounds like fun. I can't believe it's been 10 years. It still seems so fresh.

  3. Yay for Friday! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Have a wonderful weekend! It sounds like you have a lot of fun activities planned. And I watched the Matt Lauer interviews too. I couldn't help but tear up a little!

  5. Sounds like you have a fun jam packed weekend planned. Hope it's great!

I'm with you, I will never forget 9/11
