It looks as though there is a perfect storm abrewing this spring from fashion designers from discount to couture...is it just me or do the fashion gods always focus on the nautical extreme for early spring lines?? granted, i do love the americana look and feel of it all, which is why i am featuring it for this week's fashionable friday... we can all look lovely as we sail along the seas sporting these new looks:

Great Balls of Fire!

So, what do you think??? Compliments of Jenn at Munchkinland Designs, I have this uber:fabulous new blog design and couldn't be happier!! She captured everything I asked for and was wonderful to work with... very talented if I do say so myself!! Hope on over to her site if you're needing a "revamp" for 2010, too...

In other news, today is one of my dear friends' birthdays... Miss Julie! She is joining the 26 club--we've known each other since college {through best friend Bev as they gre up together in Memphis}, but she quickyl became one of our close friends and I love her to death! Not only is she so much fun to be around, jam-packed full of energy and goodness, but she is quickly becoming my go-to girl for wedding planning--among other things of course!! We miss her now that she is back in Knoxville, but that's just another reason for weekend trips east to see our girls... love you Jules- have a GREAT BIRTHDAY and an even better night ;)

Today also marks our first meeting with a potential wedding planner...my Mom and I are very excited to have someone join our "team" and dive in to the madness the next 1.5 years will bring--not sure what to expect, but I'm hoping all goes well. We have another meet & greet next week so we won't be making any hasty decisions, but it's exciting to hear their ideas and get a better understanding of how they operate--maybe one day I can make a career change and become an event planner, too! {hey, a girl can dream, right??}

And thanks to Jocelyn--another engaged friend--Meg and I get to attend our very first bridal show together this Sunday here in Nashville! The Bridal Brunch will give us an opportunity to drink champagne, munch on hors d'oeuvres, and mingle with some of Nashville's best wedding vendors--photogs, venues, bridal stores, and stationery! Can't wait to see what's in store... and some other to-be brides that I love will be in attendance, too {Amber and Brittany} so this should be loads of fun for all of us

And a little quote to brighten your day:

Happy Thursday friends!! OXOX

{Divine Design}

Candice Olsen, where are you???
With us closing on our house in less than a month {I know, I can't believe how fast time flies}, I am feverishly starting to search for necessities for our new abode! And yes, the list is adding up very quickly... I have to get it in my head that it's going to take A LOT of time to furnish an entire home and I need to take my time so I can get pieces that will last for years to come, but I can't help but peruse all  my favorite sites for some must-haves to compliment the look we're going for...
First, we have decided to tackle the living room...here are some of my favorite ideas so far!

The Tyler Sofa from Pottery Barn-- classic and comfy,
yet still perfect for our formal living room

A Patterned Chair for an Added Splash of Color!

Hudson Coffee Table for STORAGE!!

A Collection of Frames for Friends and Family Pictures

And of course, our new painting from Charleston

Ok, so this is where my blogging friends come in?? Do you know of any websites/stores I may be missing when it comes to purchasing furniture/decor/accents?? Of course there are the standards: PB, Ballard Designs, Ikea, Pier 1, West Elm, etc. but I am needing any and all suggestions sent my way--I need all the help and advice I can get!! Much thanks to all of you in advance--have a great Wednesday =)

Training Day... Week 5

I'm going to put it right out there and say this to get it off my chest, but I fell off the train this past week and was bad... not COMPLETELY bad because I still managed to run 8 miles, but I didn't reach my goal for the week to run 14--so I am 6 miles under so far.
Not horrible--I know--but I tend to beat myself up when I don't accomplish a goal so I'm smacking myself on the hand for that one, and will be working out overtime this week to get back to business.

Here is this week's breakdown:
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 4 miles @ 12:44 pace
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 3 miles @ 11:06 pace
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 3 miles @ 10:30 pace
Sunday: Long run--5 miles @ 12:44 pace

And, this week's tip from Runner's World is how to avoid back injuries AND work on your posture at the same time... a thing all of us ladies can benefit from! Try these exercies at home:
1. Back Extensions: Lie on your stomach on a weight bench. Move forward so your hips are at the edge of the bench, and your torso is hanging over. Have a partner hold your ankles. Keeping your body straight, cross your arms behind your neck, and slowly bend forward at the waist as far as you can while keeping your back flat. Slowly raise your torso until your legs and upper body are in a straight line again. Do not arch your back upward. Do two sets of 10 repetitions.

2. Double Knee to Chest: Lie on your back with both knees bent. Place your feet on the floor and your arms at your sides. Bring both knees close to your chest and clasp your hands around your legs, just below your knees. Pull your knees to your chest until you feel a stretch in your lower back. Hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times.

3. Seated Rows: Sit on a large stability ball facing a cable column or an elastic band tied to something stable. (If you don't have a ball, use a stool instead.) Grab the cable or elastic with both hands. Sit tall and upright, and pull the cable toward you. Bring your hands to your rib cage and squeeze your shoulder blades together behind you. Hold for 1 second. Important: Do not bend forward or backward at the waist. Do two sets of 10 repetitions.

4. Press-Ups: Lie on your stomach and place your hands on the floor near your shoulders as if you were going to do a regular push-up. Slowly push your upper body off the floor by straightening your arms. Keep your hips on the floor. Hold this position for 3 seconds. Relax your arms back to the floor. Repeat 10 times.

5. Ball Bridges: Lie on your back with your arms at your side and your feet on a stability ball. Slowly lift your buttocks off the ground until your trunk and legs are in a straight line. Hold this position, and squeeze your lower back muscles and your buttocks for 2 seconds. Do two sets of 10 repetitions.

{Let the Planning Begin...}

It's official... I am now in wedding planning mode {as if you couldn't tell already!} I have been waiting for this day since a little girl and now at 26, I know I am ready to get down to business...for those that don't know me personally, I am OCD when it comes to planning- I make lists, send reminder emails, and always have a timeline for planning special events.
Now this is where all my experience and background as a bridesmaid can come into full effect! Last week, we started things off and were successful at securing my dream ceremony venue:

Scarritt Bennett Wightman Chapel

A few of my friends have gotten married there over the past few years and from that moment I knew this was the place I was going to walk down the aisle... it is absolutely gorgeous!! With the huge pipe organ, stained glass windows, slate floors, and long aisle, it is the PERFECT place in Nashville to get married {or so I'd like to think}. It's on the National Historic Register and located on Vanderbilt's campus so it's close to downtown, too!
The only problem--you have to book well in advance because the dates fill up FAST! So, we put our heads together, finalized a date, and will be getting married on:

June 11, 2011

Can you tell how ecstatic I am? Of course I'd marry Jeff tomorrow if I could, but I want all the fun weddings bring and need extra time since we just bought a house, too. I have always wanted a summer wedding and thanks to my parents and Jeff, they let me have my way =)
Now it's on to hiring a wedding planner and securing a reception venue... lots to do!
A sidenote: I know some of you out there must think I am nutso/insane for getting so much checked off my list so soon, but in Nashville, it's like there are a GAZILLION brides and only so many venues to choose from and I really want to get these important things completed ASAP so I can sit back and relax for awhile!

And just because, here are a few more pictures from weddings at Scarrit Bennett:

{Fashionable Friday...Spring Jackets}

The Nashville weather has officially reverted itself back to Seattle yet again and we are officially in rain season once more... I guess I'll suffer through that rather than 10 degree temps that make me sit inside with 3 blankets on {and no, I do not own a Snuggie}

With that being said, I'm devoting this week's post to colorful and fun spring-time jackets!! As I have mentioned, I am OBSESSED with all kinds of coats--a girl can never have too many. Some of you have noticed, but with these Friday posts, I am trying to find fashionable AND affordable items to include--some of us, yes I am calling myself out here, are now officially on a house and wedding budget so shopping and spending must be minimal to keep the fiance happy. Here are some of my favorites: enjoy! =)

A Storm is Blue-ing Trench via Mod Cloth {$85}

Red Locomotion Jacket via Lulus {$70}

Rain Jacket in a Packet via Old Navy {$20}

Michael Kors Belted Trenchcoat via Bluefly {$96}

BB Dakota Trenchcoat via Lulus {$60}

And, pop on over to the infamous Kelly's Korner blog today... she is having her weekly Show Us Your Life post and this week is every girly girls favorite: SHOPPING!

Happy Friday Friends--OXOX

The Blogger BFF Award

A big thanks goes out to my fellow blogger Amber over at Fabulous, Young, and Newlywed... she was so kind to pass on this award to me {though I have been horrible at keeping up with my blogging ladies lately}.
Even better, this award was just recently created so I am happy to receive it!

This adorable award pays tribute to those of us who have formed blogging friendships through this crazy social networking world, though we very rarely have the opportunity to meet. It's crazy how reading peoples' words can give you such a great insight to their lives and we feel an instant connection to each of them.
So I pass this on to the following ladies who are definite daily reads... I love seeing new posts, comments back and forth, and learning more about how wonderful they are!
