{Dream BIG}

today marked my very first post on my very new blog!! what's been a big work-in-progress for me over the past month or so has finally taken on a life of it's own... i never knew that starting a side business was so time consuming so kudos to my blogging friends who have ventured out before me to try something new. i know i am going to have to be patient and pray about what is to come, but this is something i love to do and am happy i have found another creative outlet {to consume my already sparce free time}.
if any of you have the need for personalized items or calligraphy, please don't hesitate to let me know--you can contact me directly at southernpaperie{at}gmail{dot}com. i am going to take things very slowly so i don't overwhelm myself too much at first, but i am proud to say i already have my very first order (thanks Courtney!!) anyways, please feel free to check out my new {and very cute i think} blog:

{New Beauty Lifesaver}

I have a little secret I want to let you in on... I have recently discovered {after reading my October Cosmopolitan magazine} a new product that is a MUST try for those of you who torment your hair daily with hair dryers and straightening irons-- this is going to be my lifesaver. Growing up, my Mom always insisted that I use salon hair care products because she said they were the best, especially since I spent so much time and energy (and her $$) on my hair--well now that I supply my own, Loreal seems to work just fine, on most occasions that is.
After constantly getting my hair dyed each month, the bleach and color has really started to take it's toll on my goldilocks and I was seeking a go-to product to protect my beloved hair from falling out... then I came across the Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray, which protects your strands from the everyday wear and tear of styling products. I gave it a try this morning for the 1st time and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! It left my hair shiny, easy to fix, and much more manageable... {and yes, I was an advertising major in college- haha!}
Even better, it's only $4.99-- I love a good deal!!

(Premiere, But No Party}

It's here, it's here... tonight is the season premiere of both of my favorite reality TV shows--some may joke that these MTV dramas aren't necessary "reality", but I could care less... it's entertaining {to say the least} and you never know what is coming next. Plus, they have great fashion and my used-to-be favorite character {Kristin} is coming back on LC's famed show so we'll finally get to see what kind of trouble she stirs up this year! Apparently, Heidi wants a child--Lord, help us all if that couple spawns a baby--and Audrina has supposedly moved on from the Notorious Just Bobby {we'll see about that!}
Unfortunately, with our busy schedules, roomie and I don't get to throw our premiere party this season, but I have a feeling we may have some guests over to take in the fun and sing along with the "Unwritten" and "Top of the World" theme songs... Can't wait to get home in my comfies and gossip with all my girlies tomorrow!!

{California Dreaming}

It's almost time...tomorrow Jeff and I are on our way to the California Coast to visit his aunt, uncle, and grandmother in sunny Los Angeles. The last time I visited southern Cali, I was 16 years old, so needless to say it's been awhile. Whenever I visit the west coast, it's like I am venturing into a completely different--don't get me wrong, the people are great--but you just don't get that gracious southern hospitality in the air like you do here at home.
What's sad is that we only get to spend the weekend visiting because we have so many other things going on right now with our busy schedules, however, we plan to make the most out of our time and enjoy it to the fullest.
I'm hoping for warm weather, lots of beautiful sun (since we still surrounded with doom and gloom here in Nashville), and plenty of celeb sitings.. I know, I am such a loser! (I know you're hoping for lots of pictures, though, right??)

On a sidenote: I have to admit I am a even more excited because I am going to start reading "Twilight" on our flight tomorrow and I have been told that once I start I will be addicted to the love story of Bella and Edward so I must be prepared to run out and get the other 3 books in the series... can't wait!!

Enjoy a blessed weekend!!

{Wishful Wednesday- Job}

this week is one of my favorites... lately, i have been extremely stressed out because of my hectic career. not one to complain--too much at least--i have just tried to suck it up and work as hard as i can to get my projects complete on time and hoping for the best. it's hard to complain when i have so much flexibility, fabulous co-workers that have turned into friends, and i get to work on some pretty exciting proposals, but everyone still has that ONE job they wish they could've pursued.
'I wish' .... I got paid $1 million a year to
run my own event planning and design firm!

now wouldn't that be a dream come true?? ahh to be able to be surrounded by invitations and paper and everything involving weddings, parties, and corporate events... that would be the life for me! maybe ONE DAY i can make it happen and just throw myself out there. by now i'm sure you all know i am obsessed with blogging and i have to admit that decor, party planning, and wedding blogs are my vice and i am addicted to blog-stalking them on a daily basis. at least i am working on my new calligraphy blog as we speak- i have the cutest design and can't wait to reveal it so i can start taking orders- YAY! stay tuned =)
have a great wednesday friends

{I'm in Miami}

no, i am not really in miami, but after watching a mini-marathon of "khloe and kourtney take miami" last night on e!, i just had to let you know how funny these ladies are. again, i admit i am a sucker for reality tv, but i hadn't gotten addicted to the show until i watched a few more episodes last night before bed (poor jeff had to watch with me because i took control of the remote!!) i love the fact that celebrities really are just as normal as we are once they are out of the bright lights from the media and paparazzi. it just shows they have to deal with the everyday crisis like us: heartbreak, family drama, and trying to make their career work ONE DAY AT A TIME!

if you haven't seen this show, you need to tune in-- they are so funny and you never know what they will get into next... gotta love their sisterly bonding and hateful tendencies- HA!

look here for the episode guide and videos of the hilarious show =)

series post no. 6 {happy in love}

love comes in many forms... love for your family, love for your friends, and most imporantly, love for that ONE special person that makes your world. i am lucky enough to have found mine and i am all about the quotes talking about the love that encompasses your life. here are some of my favorites and i hope you can share them with the special people in your life, too! =)

"when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible"
"true love is your soul's recognition of its counterpoint in another"
"love isn't finding someone you can live with, it's finding someone you can't live without"
"love is that can't eat, can't sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of thing"
"there's a difference in who we long for, who we settle for, and who we're meant for"
"a woman has got to love a bad man once or twice in her life to be thankful for a good one"

Happy Birthday Dad!!

It may be raining here in Nashville (which has been ongoing for more than a week now), but it's a sunny day because it's my Dad's Birthday!!! I am so fortunate to have a father who is such a big part of my life... my parents are the most supportive people a girl could ask for, and I am blessed to have them so close to me. This weekend, we got to celebrate my Dad's birthday because today is so crazy for all of us and our work schedules.

Jeff took my Dad shooting at a gun range Saturday at a family friend's store and they couldn't wait to get home and show us their targets and brag about how well they did... so sweet!! Then we watched football all afternoon and grilled out and ate the best lemon birthday cake EVER!

Thanks Dad for all that you do- I love you so much and have a great day!! OXOX

It's Florida Friday...

This phrase brings back so many memories for me of my college days at UT. Background-- we lived in Massey Hall (my hall for those of you that know me well-HA!) and during our senior year my friend Megan Price ran up and down our sorority hallway screaming at the top of her lungs "IT'S FLORIDA FRIDAY BEESHES... GET UP AND START DRINKING!" to this day, we text each of our friends this now-notorious saying before each UT football game, and today is no exception. what is even more coincidental is today is Price's bday. The youngest of our group of friends, she finally turns 25, which makes me realize just how much we have all grown up--so sad, although when we do get together, it is like nothing has changed. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of me and Price (aka Lerch, Prucey)

Have a great friday friends!! Please help me in cheering on our VOLS as they travel to the gruesome swamp tomorrow for another matchup with Tim Tebow (it's hard to hate him when I know what a fantastic young man he is-- if you aren't aware: his family are missionaries, he volunteers all the time, and he really is that kind of guy)

Wishful Wednesday: TV Star

Another hump day means another installment of "Wishful Wednesday" and this week really got me thinking: of course we all tune in to watch our favorite television shows and the stars on them, but Kelsey made her topic this week really fun:

'I wish' .... I could be Heidi Klum!

Not only does she host my absolute favorite show Project Runway, but she is a mother to 3 adorable children (and 1 more on the way!), and is known as "The Body" from her Victoria Secret modeling days-- could life get any better for her?? I love her accent, her fashion sense, and her ability to separate her private life from the paparazzi-- she's got my vote!!

{Do What You Love}

have you ever felt like you were missing out on something you knew you wanted to do? i am usually the type of person who sticks herself out there and has enough courage to conquer--what i think is almost anything--but i figure now is as good a time as any. i have been wanting to pursue my own part time hobby/job for some time now and just kept putting it off...either i was too busy focusing on other things, or too lazy to take the initiative to step up and make it happen. i don't know what has gotten into me all of a sudden, but i am taking the plunge and i couldn't be more thrilled.
for anyone that knows me, you have to understand that i am obsessed [and yes this is taking it lightly] with everything personalized... in school growing up, i was the girl who had doodles all over her notebook and changed her handwriting frequently just because i needed a "change". i was the sorority sister in college who decorated and paint-penned all of her friend's little sis gifts during reveal week when we surprised them with handmade goodies. and now i seem to have transformed into the young woman who started doing calligraphy for each of her friends as they embark on new and exciting adventures in their life... whether it be for weddings and parties, or events for babies and children.
i am starting my own Etsy shop and am in the beginning stages of designing my brand new blog to display all my work... i hope you'll continue to read as i continue to blog about "a day in my life", and stay tuned for more fun as i change direction a bit and follow my heart!

A Whirlwind Weekend

I am going to apologize upfront and make the statement that if my language/grammar is somewhat strange in this post, it's because I am exhausted and running on an empty tank with no energy... this weekend was probably one of the busiest 2.5 days I've had in a very long time, and I know feel extremely old because I can't keep going and going like the Energizer bunny like I used to be able to {I swear if I don't have my 7-8 hours of sleep, you don't want to be around me}.
In better news, what a fantastic weekend... some things didn't turn out so well (like UT losing to UCLA because we have an incompetent QB), but otherwise, it was splendid and I got to spend it with good friends and family, which is obviously the most important thing of all. Between downtown Nashville Friday night for Meg's bday, driving to Knoxville for the game Saturday morning and then driving back to Nashville that night, and then my baptism on Sunday, this was an incredible and action-packed weekend! Let Them Eat {Birthday} Cake

Today marks a very important day:
It's hard to believe my little Meg/Malcorn/Kermie/Roomie/Lobster (yes we have lots of nicknames for each other) is all grown up... what an exciting year she has had, too!!
She has matured into such a beautfiful young woman and has a great head on her shoulders. I don't know what I would do without her sometimes--her fashion sense is divine, her advice is deeply appreciated (and needed to keep me sane), and she can make me laugh more than anyone I know. How lucky am I to be blessed with such an incredible person in my life?
Thanks for your incredible friendship Meg... I can only hope I am half the friend to you that you have been to me. Living together these past 3 years has been one of the best experiences of my life and I can't believe how much we have grown up together-- I love you more than anything in the world!!
Have a great birthday and I promise you'll love what I have in store for you tonight!! OXOX
