Success Quotes (Series Post #3)

I believe in order to be successful, you must think only positive thoughts. I'm a glass half full kind-of-girl and I am a person who wholeheartedly thinks you should live in the moment and never look back and wonder 'what if?' Eleanor Roosevelt said it best: "Take chances and do one thing each day you think you cannot do".
My company is going through a transitional period right now so everyone at work is up in arms about what's about to happen since we've been aquired by a very large firm. I, on the other hand, am only thinking about the future and just how much more I can accomplish and grow at a company with more than 48,000 employees (and no, that's not a typo- that really is how big of a company I will be working for beginning next Monday). So I will put on my usual happy face and hope for the best in what's to come... I know I'll soon be facing a number of challenged in trying to adjust to a completely new working environment, but I am happy for change and excited about the endless possibilities I now may have down the road =)

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams... live the life you have imagined!"

"There's not much you can't do if you have the desire, passion, and willingness to look at every obstacle as an opportunity"

"Victory happens when ten thousand hours meet one moment of opportunity"

Life's A Beach

It's only July and I've already been to the beach 3 times this year! Yes I feel like one lucky girl... we ventured down south in March for Bev's Bachelorette, then back down for Easter with my parents and Meg, and this past week my Mom and I took a much-needed WEEK long vacation to Rosemary Beach for some rest and relaxation away from "The Real World". For those of you who may not know where Rosemary is, it's located about 10 minutes from Seaside along the 30A Highway right next to Alys Beach and Watersound... we usually stay in Sea Grove or Seaside, so this was a fun chance to venture to a new community and I was so glad we did!

Back to School

This time each year, I start to think I may have missed my true calling when I choose my career path back in college... since I first started school, I couldn't wait until the stores started rolling out the school supply aisles. It's a bit of an obsessive compulsive attribute I seem to have developed along the way, but even now I get excited thinking about how teachers get the opportunity (I think priviledge, I assume my friends who are teachers think otherwise) to decorate their classrooms and stock up for supplies each year before school starts back.

Even now, I can't help but be a little envious about the cute bulletin boards, dry erase markers, and other fun school memorabilia waiting for them at the Parent-Teacher store. I think our teachers are some of the most influential people that can help to shape a child's future and I am very thankful for some of the professors and teachers I had in school that helped put me on the road to success... I wish I could tell some of them just how much they meant to me way back when.
With that in mind, this past weekend at our church, they announced they were having a 'Christmas in July' donation drive for none other than what -- SCHOOL SUPPLIES! Yes, I know, it was like a dream come true. After our service, I ran to see what I could pickup for the kids and adopted an elementary schooler named Callie.
During my lunch errands today, I went and picked up everything on my list and was very excited... of course I got her the cutest folders, markers, notebooks, and pencil pouches a 2nd grader could want and I can't wait to drop it off at church next weekend: And, even better, I was able to accomplish my good deed for the day, too!

Happy Birthday To ME!

As promised, I vowed to post pictures from my fabulous birthday this year... first, the cake above was a special treat my Mom picked up at a speciality bake store in Murfreesboro called Julia's Homestyle Bakery and was sweet enough to bring it to my work on my birthday -- her and Jeff took me out to a special birthday lunch at The Black Eyed Pea in Hendersonville, which is one of my favorite places for southern cooking (P.S. get the pot roast sliders, they are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!)
That night, Meg had planned a shindig downtown with friends. We wined and dined through our dinner at Urban Flatts and then continued the celebration at The Red Door, our favorite midtown bar. We had a fantastic time and I felt so special that so many of my close friends would come to celebrate with me -- thanks so much everyone for a fun night out on the town!!

The Most Perfect Birthday and Vacation

So, I'm back and more refreshed and rejuvenated than I've been in a very long time... what a week at the beach basking in the sun reading and relaxing will do for your nerves and stress levels! Just wanted to post an update that I promise to post my birthday celebration pictures as well as some shots I took at the beach last week while on vacation. I thought I would be sliding back into the routine of things at work, but low and behold, I have had to dive-in heads first (no surprise there!), but all is well in life and I couldn't be more thankful for a week away with my Mom -- girl's trips really are the best!! Have a Happy Monday and I'll be back to posting soon!

They Say It's Your Birthday

Today is here -- it seems like I've already been celebrating my birthday for a week now since Jeff took me to New York last weekend to kick-off the festivities, but today is my actual 26th birthday... I know some people don't particularly like birthdays, but I am not one of those people. What better reason to get your friends out on the town with cake and drinks and have fun??? I can't think of a more fun night and my best friend and roomie has planned quite the extravaganza -- we're having dinner at Urban Flats in the Gulch and then headed out to a few of our old favorites... Tin Roof, Red Door, and then Hollywood Disco for some late night dancing!! Just counting down the hours until I can enjoy a fun night with friends and then head to the beach with Mom in the morning for a week of 100% complete relaxation =)

P.S. Thanks to all my friends and family who have made my birthday already so special this year... it's so comforting to know I am blessed beyond words and I am so humbled by all the kind words, texts, emails, messages, and phone calls!!

So Much Can Change in a Year

As I embark on what is to be the 26th year of my life, I sit back and realize just how much my life has changed during these last 365 days... so many ups and downs and personal setbacks and triumphs, but I know God has a way of explaining those never-ending questions I ask and He is always with me--helping me choose the right path for me. I've been able to experience some incredible trips that I'll never forget and I know I have matured tremendously because of some difficult decisions I've been forced to make. So thank you to those important people who continue to shape and impact my world... without my friends, my family, and Jeff, I don't know what my life would look like, but I am thankful for each and every one of you and I'm thankful God continues to bless me through this journey we call life.
