{Recipe: Martha’s Casserole}

Uncategorized

December 31, 2009

This is comfort food to me… I am what some would call a “picky eater” and am very specific about what will and will not go into my stomach- but my roomie introduced me to this yummy casserole a few years ago and it’s the go-to dish for anything–always a crowd pleaser!!
Ingredients {double size for bigger parties}
1 lb ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced (buying the jar is the easiest)

1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp pepper
2 15 oz cans of tomato sauce
1 8 oz package of noodles (I think egg noodles work the best)
5 green onions
1 4 oz package of cream cheese
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Directions
1. Brown beef and drain excess drippings
2. Add garlic, salt, sugar, pepper, and tomato sauce- cover and simmer about 15 minutes
3. Cook noodles and drain
4. Finely chop green onions; mix with cream cheese and sour cream
5. In a buttered 9 x 13 inch casserole dish, layer noodles, meat sauce, sour cream mixture, and shredded cheese
6. Repeat process, ending with shredded cheese
7. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes and ENJOY!

    And YES, you have to go to Chicago! It was my fiorst time and I just loved it! It is a smaller version of NYC and it is really clean and so much fun! I want to go back in the Fall (I went in March) and go to Wrigley Field.

    Happy New Year!!
