A Much Needed Vacation...

We are FINALLY leaving for one of my favorite places in the world... Seaside! For those of you who have never been, you are truly missing out. I look forward to our long weekends in Seaside each year as this has become an annual tradition between our friends since the early years in college at UT. Not only am I fortunate to be able to go on these fabulous excursion to the beach, but even LUCKIER that my best friend's parents own a house there and let us rent it out practically whenever we please (pending they aren't down there basking in the warm Florida sun).

Their house is called "Art and Soul" and I've included a picture of it below... the cutest place ever filled with colorful and lively art from the Alcorn's personal collection they have purchased throughout the years. I love everything about their sweet home- the cool showers after a long day at the beach, the long dinner table where many family dinners and drinking games have been played, the doors that overlook the park in the middle of the Artist's District, and most of all, I love the top floor that overlooks all of Seaside and in my opinion, has one of the best views of this quaint little town. We have enjoyed so many memories in that house and I look forward to going there for years to come. I love Bob and Marie and they are so sweet to let us take it over from time to time =)

For those of you who have never been to Seaside, you are TRULY missing out... it's this little wonder in the middle of the Florida panhandle, half way between Destin and Panama City (about 30 minutes to each). What I love most about it is how family-oriented it is, it's quiet (until we arrive, at least), you can walk EVERYWHERE and don't have to worry about driving, there are cute little shops to wander through (especially Perspicacity- a sweet little open air store), and how could I forget about PICKLES- our favorite restaurant- it's nothing special I assure you, but the absolute best corn dogs, fried pickles, and sweet tea you could ever imagine. A trip to Seaside without eating there just isn't a trip at all. We have our normal daily routines of heading to the beach early and laying out all day, then cooking dinner together, and heading out to the ONE bar Bud and Alley's each night- think live bands that play the best vacation/beach songs, open air roof top deck with fun bartenders and lots of people our age just hanging out and enjoying their vacation away from the real world... I'm getting ancy just thinking about all the fun we're about to have on this girl's trip!

Included below are some pictures of our previous visits to our BEESH destination... ENJOY

So hasta la vista friends- we'll be back on Monday and Happy Memorial Day to everyone!

Steeplechase 2008...A Day of Fun!

So I've been counting down the days until this event for months now- it's my favorite day of the year and I get so excited to get dressed up in pretty dresses and big hats. I'm not going to lie- I RARELY see a horse at the Iroquois Steeplechase, but to me, it's so much more than that. This is my 4th year to tailgate at the big event and we couldn't have asked for better weather and fabulous friends to join us. I had been getting everything organized for weeks on end, borrowing cornhole and tables and chairs and my parents awning for the special day and I think everything turned out well and we had a GREAT TIME!

We started getting up around 5:30am, so we could get there early- contrary to popular belief and everyone can make fun of me for this, but they all later thanked me that we didn't have to sit in traffic for hours on end like some people I know- we had our tailgate set-up by 9am, complete with plenty of drinks, jello shots, cornhole, homemade food, and music to get the day started right.
Our Tailgating Spot- Midfield #985

Then the crowds started coming in... the weather started off very cloudy, but as the day wore on, the sun came through and it turned out to be PERFECT! And I've got the sunburn on my shoulders to prove it unfortunately... But I got to see tond of friends I hadn't seen in what seems like ages, got to play some cornhole, ate some great food, and sampled some mighty tasy jello shots that we had made the night before (Rory did such a good job with them, but boy were they STOUT!!)

And here are some of the pictures we captured... lots of memories made and so now the countdown for next year starts!!

Sweet Summertime...

So my favorite season of the year is FINALLY here! I never thought I'd be so excited to get out of frumpy winter clothes, but I've been so ready for this warm weather to get here, especially since our temperatures have been so up/down up/down lately... So many amazing things coming up and looking forward to sun, fun, and plenty of trips in between! Between weddings and vacations, I don't know how much actual "free time" I'll have on my hands, but it makes me so giddy knowing I can drive with the windows down and the stereo blasted and soak in every last drop of sun until it goes away...

As for Friday night, we all went out to celebrate Mike's 25th birthday, Katie Burcham visiting Nashville, and saying Adios to Amber and Megan before they venture off on their Spain and Italy journey this coming week! Oh what a night it was, too...

Me and the Birthday Boy, Mike...
Me and My Rory- He's Not Acting Right at ALL!
Me and Mr. Chad Campbell- My Old Neighbor!!

We officially started "pool season" off last weekend- granted we couldn't actually get in the pool because the water was still chilly, but we had a great time cooking out at the Dale's house, playing in our traditioned cornhole tournament and watching the Kentucky Derby, too. It was a great weekend and it makes me thankful we get to do things like this all summer long- sure makes Monday through Thursday completely unbearable, however...
